Excellent sense of 3D and depth here, these look like bits of some truly authentic piece of crockery. I love how you've given it a sort of slablike appearance, those pieces are really thivk; and it actually leads me to think that perhaps this is from some pot or something, but from a wall maybe or some much, much larger structure, but anthropologists and the poeple who found these assumed they were from pottery.
And these designs are really interesting, a bit clichΓ© perhaps as 'alien' artefact-art; but there's something really minimalistic and appealing abou those shapes.
And actually the title of this is also quite fun, because in a sense this could just as easily be a set of shards from sone extinct Earth culture. It just goes to show that our conceptions of alien planets and cultures are actually stunningly similar to the technology and culture we have on Earth.
But I love the shading you've used on that left piece, so wonderful.. It gives it something extra, something deeper. If I had to give somebody a fictitious sample of Atlantean pottery, this would be it! Great work.

This is uber cool! I just wanna say, even though its not really important, pieces of broken ceramic are actually called 'sherds', with an "e". I learned that last summer in my archy job. I thought that was wierd, cuz ive always called them shards too. Technically, the word 'shard' only applys to glass. Just a bit of useless technical info really...

What materials did you use to draw this picture? It's very good and strong in contrast, which I really like.

Is just a mechanical pencil. That seems to be my drawing tool of choice.

I like mechanical pencils too, although standard pencils are cheaper and quicker to get ready to draw with. I am a very disorganised so I always loose leads.

I, for one, would love to see your "fine" art. I admire your abilities as a fantasy artist and would like to see where those abilities come from. Afterall even the most fantastic story may require you to draw ordinary objects.

Great sketch. You must have a LOT of fantasy to come up with stuff like that. I hope you can get a digital camera soon, I'd love to see the 3D version!!!

If you ever go into jewelry making you should try lamenation process with a few different metals and depending on the shapes u carve u can get that same effect and it looks so cool!

It's interesting, although not terribly elaborate. A setting in which it would be found would make this more interesting. Even without color, just having more than some shattered pottery would make for a much more interesting picture. You could even do a background of what that used to be. A past to present sort of view.
My two cents, anyway.
