I saw a restaurant like that in Amsterdam. Never entered in it but it's really beautiful from the outside.

They must have support beams or something, because I'd be a little nervous with how beautiful it is sinking into the water lol

It's very pretty! I would've been staring in awe at the structure for awhile, then finally realizing I was hungry. Sounds like it must've been fun though!

Wow. Every single surface decorated!
...y'know, one of the things that always strikes me when I travel, is that modern America seems to be the only culture that doesn't ornament ANYTHING. At least, not after the early 20th century. Everywhere else in the world, people take the time and care to dress up their homes, their buildings, even their vehicles in some places.

I noticed that too! I feel like we shoot more for efficiency than to try and establish a sense of our own American culture.. I know money is tight but it makes everyone feel more homey if buildings were nicely done up lol

It's the fault of the whole Modernist thing in the 50's, when suddenly it became fashionable to have everything uber-plain; once folks found out that this also reduced costs, we got stuck with it.
