Description Third comparisson, rounding-out the Trinity, of BvS: DoJ's Superman.

In all honesty, this is more about how this version of Superman's been set-up and characterized, both in "Man of Steel" and what's been shown of "BvS: DoJ," than anything design-related(though, I still think the cape's a bit too long and the colors of his costume are a tad too dark ). From the Michael Bay/Godzilla-levels of mass-destruction of the fights in both Smallville and Metropolis(the "world engine" stuff gets a pass since he was busy with the second one on the other side of the planet), to his overly-aggressive behavior in the latest trailer(s). The overly-Nolanized characters and dialogue is less on him and more on the writers and directors, but it does contribute more damage to this Supes' character, and don't even get me started with the Kents...

Superman belongs to DC Comics and Warner Brothers.

BvS's Superman: I did what I could to save humanity. Where did I go wrong?

Superman: At least you didn't bring much destruction and death than Injustice/Regime Superman

I like DCEU Superman he has the potential to become something very great I can see it, but they just haven't done it yet and It's so frustrating, we need a Man of Steel 2.

Well, after how much BvS butcheredhis character, I doubt we'll be getting an actual good Superman for quite a while...

I remain optimistic like I said the ground work for a good superman is there they just have to use it. They showed some interesting points in BvS they just didn't elaborate on them. And it felt like they didn't use superman a lot, I mean I like Man of Steel and I like him but I wanted to see more of his conflict.

I can only hope that you're right and that they do something truly great with Superman in the future(that shows him as an actual good guy, rather than attempting to immediately portray him as a bad guy), but since they've already used-up that "Death of Superman" story and with Snyder and Goyer still at the helm, that hope is fading very quickly...

Well they made Geoff Johns the head of the DC movie division. He done good work with comics and the TV shows, so I think that he going to have a very strong hand in future movies. And after BvS WB is definitely rethinking they're film strategy and making serious changes. I not blaming Snyder but I feel like WB going to keep him on a leash for Justice League.

Great to hear that they're giving some control to someone with actual experience with the source material to give the movies some actual direction(something they've desperately needed for a while, now)... Then again, wasn't Johns responsible for the divisive(at best) characterization(s) of the "New 52" Justice League?

If they really are committed to keeping Snyder and Goyer around for future movies, then keeping them on a leash would probably be the smartest course of action...

Rumor has it they're already rethinking the movie line up after Justice League getting rid of cyborg for a second man of Steel (only rumors no confirmation). I think for future films they'll follow Marvel and make the films less dark (fun and serious).
Also if Justice League isn't a hit for WB Zack and Goyer are out, so they pratically have a knife to they're necks as it is. Also they've been given a bunch of new producers affleck being one.

Well, that would potentially help with fixing what they've done to this Superman(and nothing against the guy, but I don't really think Cyborg could've carried a whole movie on his own). However, I think the problem has less to do with the movies being too "dark"(though, that's certainly a big factor) and more to do with them just being written poorly, as well as practically spitting on everything having to do with the source material. I'm a little iffy on the news that's been released so far(though, I'm not getting that same foreboding feeling I got when BvS was first announced), but I hope that, even if this "Justice League" movie is successful, said knife remains at their throats.

I'm actually happy about all the news I heard from the justice league set visit if you want a run down I suggest watching this
www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaCRpO…
And I just saw the BvS Ultimate edition and I can say this is a movie that I would own and suggest to friends it still has problems (the third act feels cool but rushed), but this 3 hour version just flows so much better and actually solves alot a problems with what I had with the theatrical version. Superman act like Superman, it shows that he cares and not everyone hates him and Clark Kent is a person and he investigates the batman which actually give him a reason to fight him (aside from what happens Later), and Luthor's plan makes sense and it's evil and manipulative. I suggest watching this version, it actually makes me feel bad for Zack because this was the version he wanted to show bjut the studio butchered it and this and the Justice League news gives me more confidence with him helming Justice League though he still needs to be kept an eye on.

Sounds like a step in the right direction, but I'm still have concerns about some of this(the fact that Batman is yet again the one driving the plot being chief among them).

Eh......... well, I'm glad you enjoyed it, but I personally have less-than-zero interest in sitting through that movie all over again(and an extended version at that).

Agreed, even if Snyder wasn't completely to blame for the poor quality of the theatrical release, he does still need someone looking over his shoulder...

Also, was I the only one who felt a little bit insulted when Snyder's wife said that fans don't like the characters to be "deconstructed?"

Superman is still learning in the DCEU, and as for the destruction, it was his first day as a superhero, so I cut him some slack for that. Plus, it's an interesting take on the character.

I'm well aware of that, I'm just saying that this wasn't exactly the best possible way to re-introduce us to the character...

Yeah...this seems to be a SUperman that would NEED guidence since, out of the heroes here, he's the ROOKIE. eriously, both Wonder Wmoan and Batman are pros compared to this Superman ;

In my DCU, all three were arond in about the same time as rookies SUperman was using his GOlden Age-era powers because heh eld back a LOT because he was secretly afraid of his powers, BRuce was his golden age self in that he was super violent and Diana was the naive but optimistic forienger who wanted to help. They...took awhile to become friends ;;;

That unfortunately seems to be the case, and that is quite possibly THE worst route to take, especially for the character that's the embodiment of superheroism. What's worse, we all know that DC/WB are going to pimp-out Batman as better than ever other DC character in every one of their upcoming films with reckless, shameless abandon. They tried to "Batman-ize" Superman, to try and create a new "Dark Knight Trilogy," and, when that didn't really work, they decided to simply inject Batman into Supes' sequel and turn it into a "Dark Knight Returns"-inspired versus movie.

I'm personally of the belief that a young/rookie Superman started-out as just being "faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound" and developed his other powers as he got older, but I like your idea, too.
Yeah, I can see a rookie Batman being violent like his golden age incarnation, since his parents' murder(and the blinding pain and rage that undoubtedly came with it) was still relatively fresh in his mind.
I can see that. Despite what the "New 52" would have you believe and being warriors, the Amazons are ultimately a peaceful and loving people, so can see Wondy starting-out that way.

Thanks all around XP And yeah, when they do meet up...it is a big time clash. Supes and Bats, essentially being teenagers, do argue while Diana is just stading there annoyed ince she's letting the boys bicker 'like children' since they won't let her get a word in.

But yeah...the whole 'Faster than a Bullet, more powerful than a locomotive and can leap tall buildings' is what Supes cna do as a rookie. He didn't know about the super breath, heat vision. etc because he wasn't sure WHAT his limit was and it scared him. Heck, he found out about his heat vision when he go super mad ;;; His sensory abilities were actually the first to come in, so his x-ray vision and thel ike were the first powers to kick in.
