Taken yesterday at Seaton Carew, near Hartlepool.This is what we were waiting for at Seaton Carew station. Jubilee Class 5690 Leander. It's the first time she's been in the north east for almost 50 years, and it's the first time that I've ever seen her, and it was nice to see.
We all had only 2 grumbles. 1) even though the maroon is nice, we are more used to seeing locos in BR green. 2) She had such an ineffectual whistle, that she sounded more like a rusty hinge. A great improvement would be to fit a nice A4 whistle !!!

I don't really know what the difference is, but it's possibly something to do with the valve gear set up, because the Jubilee's were express passenger locos, whereas the Black 5's were general purpose locos.

Nice! Is that the livery called Crimson Lake? I believe the 2700 I recently photographed is to be redone in that colour.

I believe it is Crimson Lake, but normally just referred to as LMS crimson. I don't know about 2700 though.
