Description 8F 48151 "Gauge o' Gold" racing past Metal Bridge.

The driver was going flat out along this section, in order to clear the way to Durham, because they were being floowed by an electric train, which is obviously capable of much faster speeds. 48151 would just blast through Durham, whereas the electric would stop at the station to off load passengers, giving 48151 time to get ahead and into Team Valley, where she would pull into the sidings to be coaled and watered.

Thanks.
It's my usual intention to photograph locos from as low an angle as possible, and I'm pleased that some people like that.

I love the low angle shots, it displays the locomotive at speed or appearing to be at full speed.

I like low angles (for almost all subjects) because to me it emphasises the height, and gives the appearance of power.

It is, but I was rather surprised to see it with a name on, because as far as I can remember the 8Fs never carried names.

As with the tortoise and hare, the steamer got there first too

Thanks Frank.

That's a nice low angle, and a good exposure too, just right to set the mood.

The description kinda reminds me of a video, filmed from the cab of a German steam tour. "Aww, we've lost the race against that commuter EMU... Ha, he's got to stop!".

Thanks very much for the comment.

We found a great spot to get these low angles, unless Bill is with us. Because Bill can't walk far we have to go to the bridge where I shot "An early Tornado" from.

The scenario does sound similar
