Description just a reflection
just a glimpse
just a little reminder
of all the what abouts
and all the might have
could have beens
another day
some other way

This photo was taken during my recent vacation in London. And I was waiting for a good moment to release it publicly.

These times a lot of people need more help then ever. Winter is here, cold and dark.
The season to be merry, but let us not forget about the people who need it the most.
So go out on the street, if you have a blanket to spare, take it along and help a person out.
If you can spare the extra 5 cents, then share it with people who really need it.

I used your photo in a photomanipulation, the original showed the emo i was looking for in a picture after i saw my first crack heads today and realized that the world isn't the sunshine and rainbows i was brought up in. Anyways figured I'll let you know of my deviation

sad indeed, always sad to see people like that on the streets.
was my way of showing to people to have a merry christmas but to not forget that not every one is as lucky as others are

very nice shot - the man with no face ... there are so many people like this and your right we should help them, it is sad - but often it is a scam and they take the money and buy drugs or liquor with the money ....then you wonder if your really helping them out ...

giving money isn't always the right solution, that's why people should help more in other things
but sometimes it backfires, I remember once going once and bought a sandwiche and offered it to them and they didn't want it
so I ate it myself, if he would've accepted it I would've probably added a little cash too.

Hey Luc...

I have seen this scene before...sadly

Outside Sarah's appartment in Manila, little children do their 'have-to's' on the pavement, people sleep in cardboard boxes, and food is prepared over open fire...right there on the pavement...

Here in Copenhagen, it's freezing, snow is falling, and Christmas is so, so important...to most.

Homeless people are not concidered important. Not even by the homeless....

It's sad to see.

Every one was posting these happy happy christmas photos so I wanted to show the other side of the coin.
Not every one is fortunate to celebrate christmas the way they want.

The face not showing helps to the aspect of pointing toward homeless people in general, not just one person.

the visual part of your work is well done, i like the contrasts and the composition in general. it's very important that you can't see his face because for me this symbolizes that this person could be everyone. so the picture doesn't show just the fate of an individual but the fate of a big group.
in addition i appreciate you intention.

Homy In reply to ansmeer [2006-01-06 10:27:19 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much.

The idea for the face not showing is exactly how you said. It gives the general look towards all homeless, not a single person.

It's to create the general feeling that it isn't about just a single person, but towards all homeless people.

STRONG! it is so sad reality to photograph and yet we can't avoid it.

The image really tells the story of this poor homeless.

I would recommand though on lowering the image size to 800 pixels (width) so it would fit on all screens. I had to scroll a bit to view the entire image.
