Originally hand drawn by at [link] . I'm really proud of the colouring on this one. Though the pink really got on my nerves halfway through ^^I've been working on this deviation on & off for 2 months, whenever I felt like it.
I would like some critiques on this so feel free to comment.
Tools: Bamboo Tablet, Paint Tool Sai, Adobe Photoshop CS5

EDIT [20-01-2013]: Changed the background colour so it contrasts more nicely with Kairi - instead of swallowing her whole ^^

I love Kairi as a character, but her short skirts and pants always throw me off. Why do they have to be so short????

Kairi looks so boss! Awesome background too. Im so excited for Kairi to finally be able to fight (For more than a few seconds). she better be a playable character

And yeah, I hope she's a playable character - then it'll be just like Birth By Sleep.
But if it does happen I hope its realistic. Sora & Riku have a hell of a lot of experience and if she suddenly ends up at their level I'd find it ridiculous.

true but they were thrown in as beginners in KH1. I just would hate to see Kairi get stuck at that island AGAIN

It would be nice to have a third character but I think the writers kind of screwed up with the balance of the trio. They focused way too much on Sora and Riku that I think Kairi will seem more of an intruder in the game than a smooth transition.

true, although they did do alot more with her personality in KH2 then they did in KH1. Een if they did forget about her in most of the side games.

Nice clear lines, The coloring of the hair is good, the other color is alright, I think it would be better with a more certain light source when it comes to the shading, its incredibly subtle and doesnt really serve its purpose to well. It isnt terrible by any means, but I think it would be better if tried with some more bold, darker shading. So you can actually sense where the light is coming from.

And yes, I agree with you about the light source. I tried to have it in an upper right position but somewhere along the line it just became 'right'... and I guess the subtlety of the shading didn't help much either. I'll try to get better at that.

You did such an awesome job on this, your colouring on the hair is improving~!
Next time try and make the shading contrast more with the base colour
What I do is base colour then a new layer set on clipping mask and multiply, chose any colour (I usually go for purple/blue) and just shade normally.
Unless you want to stick with what you do go for it, I do quite like the discrete technique :')
