Yeaaaaaah. Banette. This was a request from ~Art-is-a-BANGXD A while back, which had a bit of delay due to well...life and school. They wanted to see the scariest Banette ever, and I think I brought that very well, don'tcha think?Now, about the picture: I went on Bulbapedia and read Banette's entry and I got the idea from this:
"Special abilities
Banette generates energy for laying strong curses by sticking pins into its own body like a voodoo doll."
TA-DA! There we go.
Also, it's kind of obvious, but I put it in there to freak people out more Hint: the bottom.
(. . .I've been sick since Wednesday. I didn't have enough for my portfolio and still couldn't work because I was sick. literally I was just lying in my bed, too out of it to even stand up for a long time; I was like this for two full days, then a big fever on Friday, then it broke on Saturday, then the idea for this came in. That's it. A little nervous to go to art class Monday to have my head chewed off upon entering, which technically was my fault. Actually, not even art class; every class. I must be so behind. Trying to relax about it; is not exactly working for me at the current moment.)

Aw poor Banette, he only wants love. The only curse he'd lay on his former owner is a broken heart for abandoning him. I think his theme song would be a loop of "I'm without your kisses, I'll be needing stitches."

I long time ago, I had seen bits-and-pieces of "Childs Play", and instantly got the impression of just how evil using a voodoo doll was. 
Two years later or so, I was playing "Pokemon Ruby Red" on my gameboy hand-held when I first laid eyes on banette. Initially, I thought "Okay, very strange-looking, somewhat creepy, but how bad can it be?"
When it used the move "CURSE", I saw that it was like a voodoo doll, which reminded me strongly of "Childs Play". Afterwards, I was so creeped out that I refused to use it or even get into a battle with one.
I guess your drawing is (in a way) therapeautic because it makes me explore just why I used to be so afraid of banette.

It's always good to hear when my drawings make someone feel something. When I was given the request to draw this I had looked at other drawings to try to get a simple idea for what to do. The thing was, they had asked for scary, and I had yet to see any Banette drawings that were actually scary at the time (well, to me anyway)! That's why I went with the whole "voodoo doll pins" idea, because the whole idea of curses and whatnot is scary. Just the fact that with enough concentration and a strong desire someone can cause damage is very creepy and, to me, fascinating.
Actually what's creepy to me is how it says it was an old children's doll that got thrown away. I mean, someone's had to have wondered sometime what it used to look like before it became Banette, right?

Perhaps when it used to be a doll, it simply resembled a version of Scrump (Lilo's rag-doll from "Lilo and Stitch").

Actually, banette DOES look like an evil voodoo version of Scrump!
Anyhow, I guess banette represents every hand-me-down doll who's ever been looked at by a spoiled brat of a child and thoughtlessly discarded because it didn't meet up to thier standards of a good Christmas gift.

Aaaaaah I see the resemblance! D: It's like how in one part of the movie Scrump changes it's facial expression to look like it's smiling!
Yeah, a spoiled kid that plays with it for a day and then throws it in the garbage when they get bored. Or it could be from a kid that grew up and had to throw it away (like in Toy Story) only it's upset that it got junked and BOOM, Banette!

Funny thing, I never really thought of what might happen when banette found the child it's after.
Maybe, under the circumstances that the child is good-hearted and/or merely grows up like Andy (from Toy Story 3), banette isn't out to kill thier owner. I think all he wants is closure, just like any ghost who wants to find rest and move on to the next world.
