I FINALLY got this finished after so much fussing and actually getting some critiques on it from my Figure Drawing teacher (mostly for colouring/colour balance, textures, light/shadow, and balancing background and foreground figure. It felt good to actually get some critiques in class rather than a bunch of worthless ass-pats, even if the critique in question wasn't for a class assignment). So, I am open to critiques (as usual) from friends and watchers but I...don't think I'll be turning on the Advanced Critiques for this one...since I already got a few advanced critiques in-class to begin with.
This is Mateo HallowAxe, Henry HallowAxe's younger brother (adopted). Like Henry, Mateo was supposed to be a throwaway character in Taiki's and Matthias' backstory. During the zombie outbreak, Henry blamed Taiki for not only Matthias' death (despite having hated Matthias at the time for supposedly taking Taiki away from him), but for the zombie outbreak in the bunker as well (because Taiki and hir family supposedly lured the the vampires and then zombies there...yeeeeah..it's still a WIP) and therefore was going to shoot hir. Mateo disagreed with Henry's logic (since Henry had snapped by this point) and well, wound up with a bullet in his brain.
No one knew that Mateo had been infected with the Met-Omega virus (via zombie bite obviously) prior to his death.
Like Henry, Mateo would later be revived via some occult rituals, but rather than a vampire like his brother Henry, Mateo would find himself revived as a flesh-eating zombie due to prior infection.
Creepy Tarman walk aside, Mateo doesn't mind being a zombie save for when his craving for human flesh and brains kicks in, then his mind clouds up until his hunger is satisfied.

Extra Information
† Mateo's un-life-long dream is to party with Linnea Quigley. ^.^;
† Unlike other Met-Omega zombies (like Hughbert and Carla), Mateo cannot run, but walks in a Creepy Tarman Walk. It has been theorized that this is because the bullet that killed Mateo is still lodged inside his brain, and thus his motor skills are a bit limited.
† This same bullet possibly causes his body to become "locked in" at random, causing him to sort of "stand stiffly in place and groan" for a few seconds.
† When his cravings cloud his mind, Mateo's eyes turn white and glassy and he can only concentrate on finding a food source.
† Unlike traditional zombie or other Met-Omega zombies, Mateo cannot be killed via a bullet to the brain (obviously since there's already a bullet lodged in there), and hacking him to pieces will just cause each body part to act individually.

the perspective down his right (our left) feels off for the correct effect this pose is going for, the handheeds more of a back swinging feel to give him more a shambling look a less a hunched forward falling over look.
I approve of the outfit... allthough he's alittle gelfling-esq in the face O.o;
which leads to very confusing mental images... the gelfling where wiped out by ZOMBEHS!
and again the whole image is too dark and muddy, it needs some dramatic light sources to pick out the vital parts of the image immeadiatly... like in all the best paintings your eye should be immeadiatly drawn to the most important part (often a naked ladies butt) then if you let the eye wander it should be drawn slowly to all the other important points on the picture as you being to devour it.... allways consider that when colouring, POP your main focus point and frame with intresting detours.
this picture brings the eye to his face, then too the two patches of yellow in the background, however these patches are empty so one gets confused as to why they were drawn there, at least for me, try it yourself unfocuse your eye's then without thinking look at the picture and see what pops out first... it's hard with your own work wich is why flipping the image can sometimes help since you will be looking at it from a fresh angle and may notice things you miss when looking at the same thing for too long, I hold paintings up to the mirror.

I was just thinking of opening Advanced Critiques just for you.
I KNEW something was off about his right hand but I didn't know what it was until you pointed it out Thanks, it also looks slightly longer than his left arm now that I'm looking at it more. O.O; I don't think I can correct that, but I believe I can add more lighting to him and (effects/lighting rather than lightening up the entire figure as Ms. Jenny suggested, which made him look even more muddy when I tried that).
Would Garthim count as "zombiesque" since they were technically shells under control of the Skeksis? At least "Gelfling-esque" explains why I find him so damned adorable (he needs four digits per limb and a flute thing).
I do need to try flipping images like some people do. We were talking about an artist yesterday in figure drawing who, before he left his studio each night would turn his drawings either upside down or on their sides so when he went back in the next day, he could pick out his mistakes and fix them.
I still have cleaned up versions of the Anarchy and Bob pics you critiqued that I need to upload. >.>;

the whole right side seems off, I don't think that can really be fixed, it's more something you need pointing out before you ink, but something worth remembering for next time and good to see you trying out perspective, I know I suck balls at it OoO
lightening the main figure wouldn't work as the background is also dark, the original is all dusty sand colour, it might have been a good idea to pick a predominant colour for the light sorce so that everything has highlights of that colour to pull the image together ... hard to say.
Dark Crystals and zombies is not a storyline I want to pursue *o*;

Yeah I agree with you there. Truth be told I can stare at my pencils for hours and fix things and then notice more things after I ink. The guy in my reference was wearing a baggy shirt too, so I had to kind of guess the anatomy a bit. We only have two models in Figure Drawing since our male model moved away: A thin female model (who normally poses in her skivvies) and a pregger lady so I don't get perspective exercise for males. ^.^;
I think I can add some highlights to him though. I looked at him on a school monitor and he does look muddy and dark, whereas my monitor has its brightness maxed so I couldn't see the muddiness from home.
Nah, me neither, even if Mateo does look like a Gelfling. Marvel Zombies already kind of pushes it.

is the number one rule of inking that you will not spot the most BLATANT mistake untill it is inked beyond saving XD tis called, Sods Law.
there are so many things wrong about the subject "Byzantine Art" but I'm sure you don't want to be boored to death about the fact that there never were any people called Byzantinians and the people they are refering too where notoriously BAD at art, to the point that they stole it *cough* ^.^;; too funny.

Yeah she is actually. She hasn't really begin nut-jobbery since 2008, but she's completely rewritten her stories and her art style has changed A LOT...so no more goofy demon lady for her. She has zombies now and Emmelia so A LOT better now. No more oversexed-psycho-panties-wearing vampire...and no more Yu Yu Hakusho references.

Trioxin zombies are the type of zombie that appear in the Return of the Living Dead movies. These zombies can be corpses that have been dead for ages, they can run, and they're sentient. They also eat solely brains to ease the pain of being dead (They were the first to yell "BRAAAAAAINSSSSS" which has become a zombie stereotype).
My head canon also SWEAR Bub from Day of the Dead is Ghoulia's dad. ^.^;

Yeah, "BRAINS" originated from Return of the Living Dead. I highly recommend seeing this movie, and not just because it's my favourite zombie movie ever.
Yeah, I had planned on drawing her with Daddy Bub and explain why I feel Bub is her dad (if you've seen the original Day of the Dead you'd see it too), but I never finished it. ^.^;

The one in the mall was "Dawn of the Dead" and was made in the 70s. "Day of the Dead" was made in 1986.
