Description The fields are turning green and those majestic storm clouds have started rolling in

Soooooooooooooooo... I'm probably gonna be attacked for straying so far off my style...

My photos usually have dramatic lighting, composition and perspective...And this is the exact opposite. barely any perspective(taken 32 x 1.6 =52mm...)

This is simple, clean, very little processing...A style I've gotta get much more used to....because....I GOT A JOB!!!

A friend of mine showed my photos to his mother, who is in the publishing industry of South Africa. She phoned me 2 days ago and told me that her passion in life is giving talented young people an oppurtunity. And I'm one of her chosen ones. She's launching a new eco/green-lifestyle magazine and they're gonna need lots of monthly photos of S.A's nature. My work will be getting some serious exposure and I'll make enough money to start investing in 'top of the range' gear...So going full frame with a 7D might not be that far away...

Oh yeah....the mountain on the right is Simonsberg, better known to you all as [link]

On the is klipheuwel and this was taken from the Elsenburg road

pano fo 4 horizontal shots( I cropped about a 3rd off)
Verrrry little processing.

I definitely love how this one has such a natural feel. Some have said the color is a little flat, but I think that instead the way it is now softens the picture and gives it a bit more realism. Beautiful.

i love the 'fresh burst' that i get from this picture, but for some reason, my favourite part is the blue mountain(y hill thinghy) in the background!!!

Congratulations on getting a commission, it's really great when people will pay you to do what you love doing anyway.
It's because of this that I figure I can justify investing in pro gear.
When the 5D MkII comes out, be sure to check it against the 1Ds MkII. Now the MkIII is out, the prices have gone down, but it's still a fantastic pro body. Check it out.

As for this shot, I like the way it's composed and the lack of PP. It's one of those shots that you know in your soul you're going to go back and shoot again to do it justice when the light is better.
This would be magnificent with some side lighting...it's a little flat as it is. I'm having a similar problem with this shot [link] I know there's a shot there, but I also know I'm going to have to revisit the place to really nail the location (in this one everything about the sky is wrong. The light has unbalanced the sky, which is too light all over, particularly on the right, and the sky needs more interest).
That's part of landscape photography, we need to work it and be patient to get it at it's best. That shot for example is going to mean waiting for at least 6 months for the position of the sun to give me the light I want...and by then the fields will have had 6 months of summer and will be really dry.

This is a great location, well composed and exposed. I reckon there's a better shot there on another day, and I KNOW that you've got the ability to get it

I understand everything you say....I've visited this place like 10 sunset and a few sunrises. It has this road going over a hill lined with majestic old oak trees and cracked tar road with dramatic texture....but I just can't capture it's beauty.....[link] further on [link]

Wow, those images look a lot like Portugal

I think it's nice to have these places that we know are "work in progress". That location certainly looks like it has a lot of potential....it sometimes just takes time for everything to come together.
I've got a thick notebook with locations that I've seen but not been able to shoot satisfactorily, and maps with marks all over them..places I really want to get something out of...and the reality is it will probably take me years...but that's part of the fun really.

I did like the shot you submitted a lot though...it's a great place.
