Description A lot of you will remember this shot. The HDR version that I submitted like forever ago had a DD, but an argument with mr hdr led to me deleting it.

Amazing shot again , I much prefer this over the HDR version , find HDR is way over done here on DA .
Would love to see it reshot with your mark II the detail would be insane . If im ever over that way deffinatly would like to photography this spot my self .

It's actually quite sad because this is an amazing view ( as you can see ), but the surroundings of the mountain is some of the most expensive wineland property in the world. 600 hectares of it just sold for $160mil u.s . There's no access to the farmlands and this spot is the only safe place to pull off from a 4 lane mountain pass.

And fuck yes, HDR is extremely overdone, but a certain major and influential deviant encourages it.

This is absolutely gorgeous. I love the greens. And I have to agree with what Gilgond said. This is better than any HDR photo because it shows how natural it is.

That my friend is a majestic view. Such a devine apperance by the mountain itself with the perspective shot at added by the little populated foothills.
Also the clouds gives the extra enhancements to make this a very strong and beautiful composition.

VERY good shot, one of my personal favourites!

Alex37 In reply to PictureElement [2009-02-02 22:56:23 +0000 UTC]

in my opinion that is not a good method. It is far too automatic and produces results similar to HDR

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PictureElement In reply to Alex37 [2009-02-03 10:43:12 +0000 UTC]

i'm not really sure about it too. if the exposures differ more than 1 EV there remain halos around dark objects..I recently found another method but i'm not quite sure about yet..
have you got a better one?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex37 In reply to PictureElement [2009-02-03 13:39:16 +0000 UTC]

yes do it by hand with layer masks. I did start writing a tutorial on the subject, but I think instead I may well do a video

PictureElement In reply to Alex37 [2009-02-03 17:48:22 +0000 UTC]

yeah well I heard of it..but that's the editing work I don't like. makes me sick..and think you need a lot of time for that..don't know. maybe a video would be better..

it can be time consuming, but most situations are very easy 5-10 mins

Do you use a graphics tablet (if that's the correct term) or just a mouse?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alex37 In reply to JakeSpain [2009-02-06 17:05:01 +0000 UTC]

I use a tablet for complex masks (a £30 wacom) otherwise I use a laser gaming mouse from the olden days

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JakeSpain In reply to Alex37 [2009-02-06 18:42:20 +0000 UTC]

Yep, I thought you might... I'm looking at a larger wacom prob an A4 one. I used to use one around a mates studio but that was an A3 and huge money!!
