Well, I have been waiting a while to comment on this. Stil, all I can come up with is that it is fantastic! The shading is absolutely perfect; this could be a great photograph. His fur looks so soft! I like this a lot. I'm a huge fan of panda bears. Very, very nice!

Haha Thank you very much. The dear lady that I drew it for loves Pandas as well and was thrilled with it.

a good study of a rare animal - have you drawn or observed a live one?

Nope can't say that I have.

I just looked at a reference pic for it.

The couple that I still have are in an exhibition in New York at the moment. They make for affordable art to people that don't have a lot of money nor space for larger pieces.

So ... so far so good.

That's wonderful both for you and people who appreciate art but aren't that affluent. Great about the exhibition. Unfortunately, I tend toward MeC Dom Perignon taste and a Bud budget. Turn me loose in a jewelry store and I will unerringly find the most valuable yet simplistic item in the store. I don't like gaudy.

I had gone to see an AmerIndian art dealer in Scottsdale, AZ whom I knew and after looking around found a wonderful artist whose work I fell in love with. He had personally bought all her work, which was limited since she had died of leukemia. He couldn't be pursuaded to turn loose of any of it. I was really floored when I found out some were painted with her left hand when she experienced too much pain in her dominant right hand from the chemotherapy.

That's an interesting Story.

I've read an article in where Artists will sometimes try painting with their offhand in a more simplistic style because they are habituated using it for highly detailed work. Some of the artists in, said article did it as the result of no longer being able to use their dominant hand ei. Stroke or accident ... other's who are somewhat ambidextrous did it out of the desire to see if they could and to have change.

It's too bad that he wouldn't part with any of her work, seeing that you loved it so much. I hope you left him your contact details if ever he had a change of heart.

What was noteworthy was that she was equally good with either hand, which she had not known, and even knowing which she painted with which hand, you still couldn't tell. No, unfortunately, he died some years ago but I never heard from his family about her work. I can't remember her name except that it was part Dine and part Irish due to her parentage. He was a well known painter in his own right. I contacted the Heard Museum hoping one of the curators might know what happened to his collection but never got an answer. I did understand why he wouldn't let me buy the painting I flipped out over since it was one of her peyote dream animal guides series for the stages of her spirit journey (The Blessing Way). No way could I afford the whole series even though it was breath takingly beautiful.

Haha thanks. It was a gift to a lady that had an exhibition organized for a group of artist friends, myself included.
