Description
It is not an easy task to be a predator across the ruined realms. Your prey might mutate at any time and change, either due to the touch of the Dreadwake or via dormant magic they might run into when running away from certain death. Your territory might shift and change dramatically overnight or simply begone as it might just walk away. Your meal or hunt might be interrupted by other hunters, both great beasts that can overpower you and the little curious monkeys that possess terrible tools and weapons. It is not easy to be a predator, and yet, they exist in spades as the abundance of prey of all kind as well as vast, savage lands means it’s open season all the time. And it also means that the nature had to not just take its course, but get advanced degrees in nanotech, xenotech and thaumathurgy, adapting with delight to spawn new creatures, well suited to such dangers and threat as they hunt for their next meal. Waldeghasts are a fine example – humanoid, quite intelligent, with opposable thumbs on elongated, powerfully muscles arms. They prey on the creatures of the Living Bogs and travel to the Sea of Acids, where they were spawned, to imbibe the toxic, corrosive juices into the special organs in their bodies, learning how to cook them in their guts to spit gobbets of deadly goo at their prey or formulate other chemicals depending on their need. Gluing compounds to slow hasty prey. Blinding spray to overwhelm the sight. Burning liquid to roast the furried prey. And so on, and so on – a nimble, walking, smart chemical factory eager to take on any prey to try their newest gut-brewed concoction.
