His hands on your waist, your hands on his shoulders; his forehead touching yours while his calm, grey eyes locked with your stunning orbs. You both swayed around, your vanilla-scented breaths tickling his face, and making him pull you closer. Levi wondered how you always smelled like vanilla, and how your mouth always tasted like it, too. You moved your hand to rest on the side of his neck, delicately stroking it with your thumb, and running it over a healing scar he got from the last battle.
That’s how both of you liked it. A night where both of you can be alone, together.
♦ When my hair's all but gone and my memory fades
And the crowds don't remember my name
When my hands don't play the strings the same way
I know you will still love me the same ♦
It was absolutely silent in the room; nothing but the light humming escaping your lips. Levi moved you away a little, taking both of your hands in his and spreading your arms, then releasing one hand and giving you the chance to twirl around. Levi’s eyes were planted on your entire being, watching as you twirled in your lovely [F/C], knee-length sleeping gown. After twirling, you softly collided again with his chest, as you wrapped your arms around his torso and buried your face in his chest. You liked the space that was known as his embrace. He was your home. He was your love. He was your everything.
Levi started patting your head softly, running his fingers through your hair and playing with it a bit while noticing the few wounds that scattered on your shoulder blades. All he could do was run his lips over those wounds, wishing he could heal you in any way.
He truly cherished the few moments he could spend with you; even after being married for two years now (and three years of dating prior to that), the time both of you could spend together was so little compared to any average normal couple. Letting out a tiny sigh, he remembered that both of you weren’t any normal couple celebrating their three-year anniversary. He’s ‘Humanity’s Strongest’ and you’re one of the most important squad leaders in the Survey Corps. Both of you faced grave danger every single day , both of you had a crapload of work to do, and worst of all, both you were making yourself ready for hearing any news about the loss of the other. Or, you were trying to make yourself ready, at least.
You put up with him. A lot. Especially when you were newly recruited, and he was being a major pain in the butt. You still remember the first time he confessed; it was right after a battle and he was enraged that you arrived late with your squad. Later that night, you were called to his office and were absolutely ready for insults to be thrown at you here and there, when all you’ve received was a sudden confession from the Captain, with an angry make out session on the side. Levi couldn’t believe that someone would be capable of making him feel emotions he has never felt before. He never imagined that he would do the craziest stuff for a different human, for someone he fell in love with. Someone who stunned him with an inexplicable spell in the most wondrous way possible. It was like you touched this absolutely out-of-bounds area in his heart, and he was thankful that you were the one to do so.
“Hey, Levi,” you muttered, removing your head off of his chest to look him in the eyes. “Remember that time I accidentally hit you in the face with a mop, and you had to attend a formal, royal dinner with a swollen eye?”
“Almost four years since that happened, and I still believe that the whole ‘accidentally’ thing is bullshit,” Levi raised his eyebrows at you, giving you a glare. He jokingly pinched your nose with his rough fingers. You loved it when he was being like that, when he was in a good mood.
“God, my husband sure is smart,” you smirked, earning a flick from his finger on your forehead.
“Ouch! Seriously, Levi? Nose pinching and forehead flicking? Are you three?” you asked, trying hide the happiness those two actions caused you.
“No, but it is nearly three in the morning, and we have a meeting tomorrow morning.”
An irritated sigh left your mouth, feeling disgruntled that you couldn’t spend the night comfortably without remembering meetings or paperwork or battle-planning. Levi’s fingers held your chin, lifting your face up to face him, and without further ado, he gently locked your lips with his. After all those years together, Levi’s kisses always managed to set a million butterflies free in your stomach. His thumbs caressed your cheeks while you placed your hands on his sides, pulling his body closer to yours. He tugged at your lower lip a bit, softly biting on it and winning an alluring moan from you. Feeling the loss of oxygen taking over, you separated for a while, but right afterwards Levi carried on peppering your jawline with quick pecks and butterfly kisses.
Levi realised that he couldn’t stop, and won’t stop, falling in love with you over and over again. He loved the way you argued with him over the simplest stuff, he loved the brilliance that bounced from your eyes, he loved your fingertips and the way they made every fibre of his being set aflame, and he loved your voice. Oh god, your voice. How your voice sounded when you were about to prove a point during a meeting, how it sounded when you ordered the cadets around, how his name sounded special when you said it, and how his name was even extra special when you laced it with heavy breathing and intoxicating moans during intimate moments you shared together.
“Happy anniversary, [F/N]. I love you. I love you more than anything,” Levi paused his thoughts and his kisses to breathe out those words on your neck, setting goosebumps free all over your body as his rings looked deep into yours.
“I have always loved you, Levi. And I will keep loving you as long as I’m breathing. Happy anniversary,” you intertwined your fingers with his, and pulled his hand close so that you could plant a kiss on his knuckles, then leading him towards the bed with a heartwarming smile gracing your lips.
♦ So, baby, now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
I’m thinking out loud
That maybe we found love right where we are ♦
