Покрышкин в начале войны действительно летал на Миг-3, но под Сталинградом его не было.

This would be a Mig 3. They very bullet-fast, thanks to being stream-lined & lightly armed. That was also it's weakness. 2 30 calibres & 1 50 caliber. It was a joy to fly, though. I own one, the aircraft.

Many of the Soviet's planes in the 1940's where slow as hell, though.

Kraseeviy rabot! Beautiful work! The MiG-3 wasn't the best aeroplane around, but it certainly had a rakish, racing 'plane look to it.
Best Regards,

i'm more of a jet era aircraft entusiast, so i dont like prop fighters often, but when i do then it means that the aircraft is beyond awesomeness! Great work!!!

A true art deco killing machine! Then again, you can say the same about the Spitfire. Nice work!

I agree, it looks like a cool airplane, BUT it was very unstable in flight, and its armament, 2 30 cals & 1 50 cal were NO WHERE near enough to compete in the swirling dogfights that ingulfed Stalingrad.

Ahh indeed, in terms of stability and armament the Mig-5 and Mig-7 was much better, but by the time the Mig-7 went into production there wasn't really a need for the high altitude interceptor it was designed to be.
