Description There is no animal which is more suitable for a transition between the flora and the fauna series.
Phasmatodeas are a insect order with an world wide distribution, and especially islands inhabit often monophagous species, and Frondricrus pyrungataensis is one of them. The 14 cm long relative of the tree lobsters only feeds the leafs of the Passiontree Passidendrales magnus: [link]
But this trees have a relative clear canopy which make it dangerous to feed here, under the eyes of flying predators. But like others of it's family, Frondricrus found a way to become invisible...

Pterosaurs, not dionsaurs
There are insects, birds, reptiles, fishes, but not mammels and amphibians.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

TheComicCreator In reply to Hyrotrioskjan [2012-08-24 23:33:31 +0000 UTC]

Oh my god That's way too coincidental lol. Amphibians were relatively unsuccesful in the place of my current project as well! Lol only Caudates(salamanders) survived(funny because it is a fairly wet planet

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hyrotrioskjan In reply to TheComicCreator [2012-08-25 12:03:56 +0000 UTC]

It was inevitable. There are just two frog species (Fiji frogs) throughout the Pacific. Pyrungata lies in the middle of the pacific, which make it even less possible that it will be reached by amphibians.

I know you mean Qutezalcoatlus, but I was uncertain about how I should understand your question.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OblivionJunkey94 In reply to Hyrotrioskjan [2012-08-24 13:13:45 +0000 UTC]

Oh sorry i ment do they live in pyrungata

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hyrotrioskjan In reply to OblivionJunkey94 [2012-08-24 18:51:15 +0000 UTC]

Qutzalcoatlus extinct, but a few speciemens of this or another big Azdarchid species survive on proto-Pyrungata and lost their ability to fly. Even the big extinction event at the end of the cretaceous can't effect them much. They found safety in the various lava-tubes of the vulcanic islands and feed mostly everything what they can find.
