Alright looking at this guy's face it would appear to have multi-purposes. One purpose is to intimidate rival males during mating season perhaps. It's face also looks very tough so I'd imagine it would ram into it's prey as it's slender body appears aerodynamic. So in order to get prey it would ram into them. I think one weakness it has is the ability to turn making it's back a weak point.

It's all from the present, and yes they are from different altitudes of the swimming continents.
