Description
To celebrate the final splatfest starting in a few days.......
*Callie and Marie Freshen the Competition!!*
Name: Callie and Marie
Universe: Splatoon
Entrance: Callie/Marie swim onstage in their squid form, and immediately after turning into their Squid Sister form, will perform a pose while saying “Stay Fresh!” in their Inkling language. After posing, they get into battle position.
Callie/Marie--------------------------------------------
Callie and Marie are separate characters that can be decided who to play as by swapping through alternate costume palates.
Fighting Style----------------------------------
Because Callie and Marie have splat battle experience, they know not only how to look good, but fight well as well! As the Inkling utilizes different weapons supplied by Sheldon in their gameplay, the Squid Sisters utilize attacks based around the special attacks in Splatoon, along with their signature dance flare.
Specials------------------------------
B- Chant- Callie/Marie perform a chant, hoping up and down with a fist bump and yelling “Hey!” in the inkling language. This chant is a signature move in their choreography, and has a hypnotizing effect to anyone near them when they are chanting. If the opponent is within the radius of the chant (about the same as Jigglypuff’s up special) opponents will either force trip or will taunt randomly. The move is quick and deals no DMG, but can easily catch an opponent off guard and you can rapidly press B to make them continue to do the chant attack.
Side B- Killer Wail- Callie/Marie pull out a Killer Wail weapon and screen into it! This sends out a short shockwave forward that pushes opponents backward, similar to the Gust Bellow item. The attack can easily push opponents who are too close for comfort away, but it completely leaves them open for an attack if avoided.
Up B- Inkrail- A long diagonal Inkrail forms, as Callie/Marie enter their squid form and travel up the rail with great speed! The rail reaches about as far as Ness’ PK Thunder ball reaches, allowing for excellent recovery from the Squid Sisters. The rail does no DMG to opponents, but if an opponent touches it they will automatically be put into a helpless state until they touch the ground. The rail stays in effect for as long as Callie/Marie travels in it, which can be canceled at any time by pressing the jump button.
Down B- Bubbler- Callie/Marie create a Bubbler shield around them for 3 seconds. While the shield is active, the DMG they receive is halved and any projectiles fired at them will reflect. The shield can be broken however, if it takes over 30% DMG. Once broken, Callie/Marie will be stunned and wide open for an attack. The Bubbler has a 10 second cooldown, but can really help out when you are in a pinch and need a quick escape.
Final Smash- Splatfest Concert- Callie/Marie summon a mini stage to land at their feet, the stage is equipped with a microphone for them and two large speakers. Callie/Marie performs a small segment from their hit song “City of Color” as the speakers blare the music so loud that it sends out large shockwaves. The attack will last for about 8 seconds, during which the speakers send out constant shockwaves every second which deal between 10-20% DMG each shockwave depending on how close you are to the stage. So the way to rack up the most DMG would be to capture opponents close to the stage and let them have it!
(After I decided to equip them with specials from Splatoon, I thought that possibly another final smash would suit them which would utilize a Splatoon special, but I couldn’t decide between the two….so here is an alternate final smash!)
Alternative Final Smash- Inkzooka- Callie/Marie pull out an Inkzooka, and look at the camera while giving a peace sign. In their Inkling language, Callie/Marie says “Let’s do this!” and leaps up off the stage. A cartoonish target will appear on the screen, and you now control the Inkzooka! Press B to fire a large ink blast at the stage where the target is. The final smash works similar to Snake’s in Brawl. The inkzooka launches large ink tornados, that are quite large but not very wide (about as tall as Mario’s growing taunt, but as wide as Luigi). This means that the attack will be most effective if you can catch opponents who are above or below the targeted opponent. Blast the most opponents within the time limit to send them flying! After the attack is finished, the Squid Sister leaps back onstage and smiles at the screen giving it a thumbs up. All while the final smash is going, the Squid Sister’s iconic song “City of Color” plays in the background.
Standard Moves---------------------------------------------
A – Slap- With their right hand on their hip, Callie/Marie slap forward with their left hand.

Stage-------------------------------------------------------
Splatfest- Callie/Marie’s home stage takes place in the Inktropolis hub area during splatfest! The stage is very similar to the Smashville stage, except a little more happening in the background with a much larger background space. In the background are two stages where Callie and Marie will perform, and many Inklings of all colors and different styles can be seen dancing and chilling in the background. If Callie or Marie are not currently in play, they will be performing onstage in the background one of their iconic splatfest songs. If they are battling however, the music can be heard just without Callie and Marie singing, and they will be absent on their performing stages. Miiverse also is used in this stage, after a battle is finished you can share a message for Callie and Marie and all the citizens of Inktropolis, and the Inklings will have speech bubbles with Miiverse posts in them as the battle goes on.
