Description

Name: Inkling

Universe: Splatoon

Entrance: A small splotch of ink can be seen on the ground with a squid in it. The squid suddenly emerges, transforming into a kid! The Inkling grabs their ink shooter and gets ready to fight.

(To see how ink is implemented, see “special abilities”)

Specials------------------------------

B- Splat Charger- Inkling takes out a splat charger and aims forward, ready to snipe an opponent. Hold down B for up to 3 seconds to have a full charge! The longer you charge B the further the ink shot will travel once you release B. The snipe shot travels about as far as Duck Hunt’s clay disc when it is fully charged, and will deal more knockback the closer to the charger you are. Consumes about 1/8 of your ink, but 3/8 of it if you are fully charged. While holding B you can also aim where the Splat Charger fires.

Side B- Splat Bomb- Inkling tosses a splat bomb forward at a slight arc, the bomb then bounces once and explodes after a brief moment of being on the ground. The explosion of ink splatters all around the bomb, and deals excellent knockback and DMG the closer you are to the middle of the bomb. Though it is strong, it does consume almost half your ink, so the key is to throw the Splat Bomb and take to your squid form quick!

Up B- Squid Launch- Inkling turns into their squid form and rockets off upward. While rocketing upward, the Inkling’s ink gauge will recharge as though it were if you were not attacking. The squid form rockets upward quickly to about the height of Snake’s up special, after reaching that peak height the squid will turn back into its Inkling form and descend helplessly, but quickly downward. This attack deals the most DMG with the opponents hitting the squid, but the squid also leaves behind a trail of Ink that can deal minor DMG. You can also control the arc of the recovery, allowing you to make great recovery to make up for the Inkling’s terrible jumping skills.

Down B- Splat Roller- The Inkling takes out the massive Splat Roller and slams it down in front of them. With the Splat Roller, you can either simply press down B to deliver a powerful downward attack, or hold B after pressing down B to use the Roller like you do in Splatoon! By holding down B you can roll the Splat Roller forward quickly to deal very high DMG to opponents who get in your way. However, both methods take up the most ink, and can very quickly leave the Inkling open without any ink to defend itself. Use the attack wisely to deal the most DMG.

Final Smash- Kraken- The Inkling transforms into the giant Kraken and wreaks havoc on the stage! The Kraken is a very large enemy that is resistant to any DMG, and can easily dish out DMG as well. Jumping will cause the Kraken to perform a small corkscrew attack, and you can also DMG opponents by simply running into them. The Kraken deals great DMG and knockback and is very fast, however it can’t jump very high so opponents who can keep themselves in the air can avoid the Kraken. The Inkling stays in this form for about 10 seconds before reverting to its Inkling form.

Final Smash 2- Inkstrike- By holding the B button for 3 seconds while the Inkling has the smash ball, it will allow them to use a separate final smash, the Inkstrike! Release B and the Inkling takes out a small gamepad along with an ink rocket on their back and presses a button, the ink rocket goes soaring into the sky offstage overhead. After a second of it leaving, the rocket comes slamming onto the stage wherever the Inkling is standing, and explodes into a giant ink tornado that takes up a large chunk of the stage! The Inkstrike causes a large ink tornado pillar to form, the pillar swirls rapidly and height wise extends above the top stage blast zone (similar to the fire pillar Entei creates) and about the width of Beast Ganon (Ganondorf’s final smash). The inkstrike deals massive DMG, and pretty much guarantees a KO if an opponent is caught in the blast, however from the moment the Inkling starts holding B if they take any DMG they lose the smash ball so be careful.

Customizable Moveset-----------------------------------

Standard Special 2: Classic Squiffer- This version of the Splat Charger deals less DMG and doesn’t travel very far. However, you can rapidly fire shots from it, and it takes no time to charge up attack. Sacrifice distance and DMG for speed with this charger.

Standard Special 3: E-Liter 3K- This version of the Splat Charger is the strongest of the three, able to deal almost 25% DMG with a single charge! However, this charger takes longer to charge then either of the others, and though it deals the most impressive DMG, it also takes up the most ink.

Side Special 2: Burst Bomb- This projectile bomb deals a lot less DMG than the splat bomb, and very little knockback. However, it takes up less ink, the bombs explode on contact, and you can attempt to throw them in rapid succession.

Side Special 3: Ink Mine- Instead of throwing a bomb like item, the Inkling instead plants an ink mine in the ground in front of them. This ink mine will detonate after a second of an opponent being near it, similar to a motion sensor bomb. This attack deals slightly more DMG than the splat bomb, but can be trickier to pull off since the opponents can see the ink outline of the mine. The Inkling can also take DMG from this attack, so be careful.

Up Special 2: Squid Rocket- The squid rockets straight upward a slightly smaller distance than the squid launch, but also launches opponents upward. You can only travel straight upward though, making it difficult to recover.

Up Special 3: Squid Blast- The squid blasts quickly in an arc upward, delivering a small explosion of ink after taking off. With this move, the squid doesn’t leave an ink trail behind and doesn’t travel very far, but it does deal more DMG than the other two up specials.

Down Special 2: Dynamo Roller- This roller is quick and easy to use, but deals less DMG and knockback. However you also use less ink, but with less ink you also deal less DMG.

Down Special 3: Golden Dynamo Roller- This roller is a very strong roller that can deal high DMG and knockback, but with that power it also is very slow and takes a longer lag before starting the attack.

Squid Form---------------------------------------------------

Squid Form- Holding down will transform the Inkling into its squid form. While in this squid form, the Inkling is constantly surrounded by a puddle of ink even while moving. You can move forward while holding down also to zip along the ground at almost three times the speed as the Inkling (squid form moves about as fast as Toon Link’s dash).

Standard Moves---------------------------------------------

A – Splatter Shot- Pressing A or holding A will cause the Inkling to rapidly fire the splatter shot gun. The gun has great range depending on how much ink you have, and while it doesn’t deal knockback it can quickly rack up DMG as each ink splatter deals 3% DMG. Fires about 3 ink splats per second.

A Left/Right- Splatter shot- Same as standard A, except you can move left or right while using the splatter shot.

A Dash- Splatter Spin- The Inkling performs a large spin while firing ink in a circle with the splatter shot.

A Up- Splatter Shot- The Inkling fires the splatter shot gun upward, can be held to constantly fire ink.

A Down- The Inkling fires a blast of ink forward while crouching.

Smash Left/Right- Inkbrush- The Inkling takes out an inkbrush and slashes it forward horizontally three times. The longer you charge and the more ink you have, the further ink will travel. The ink that shoots out of the brush deals 4% DMG per slosh of ink (3 times the brush gets slashed forward), but getting hit by the brush itself deals more DMG than the ink.

Smash Up- Inkbrush- The Inkling slashes the inkbrush upward, similar to the left/right smash attack just aiming upward.

Smash Down- Inkbrush Rollover- The inkling holds the Inkbrush overhead while charging the attack, and slams it down forward when the A button is released. After slamming it down, the Inkling rushes forward a few character lengths with the brush, which can string opponents along for DMG.

Aerial Neutral- The Inkling turns into its Squid form, and performs a spin attack.

Aerial Forward- The Inkling fires a short blast from the Blaster gun forward. This consumes a small portion of ink, but deals good knockback.

Aerial Backward- The Inkling kicks backward with both legs.

Aerial Down- The Inkling swings their splattershot downward at an arc.

Grab- Inkling reaches out forward with their free hand to grab an opponent.

Standard grab attack- Inkling slams the opponent with their splattershot gun.

Throw forward- The Inkling throws the opponent and shoots them with the splattershot.

Throw back- The Inkling simply kicks the opponent away behind them.

Throw up- The Inkling blasts the opponent upward with a shot from their splattershot.

Throw down- The Inkling turns into a squid and performs a drill attack downward.

Shield-Inkling throws up a bubbler shield, which depletes like any other shield.

Back Dodge- The Inkling leaps backward surprised.

Dodge Roll- Inkling simply rolls backward/forward.

Taunt/Result Screen---------------------------------------------------

Taunt 1 (Up) – The Inkling turns into its squid form as a small puddle of ink surrounds it. The squid jumps into the ink and remains there until you move or are attacked. This refills your ink tank (see special abilities) quicker also.

Taunt 2 (Side) – The Inkling tilts both their hands downward and stands on one leg, and in their squid language says “Stay Fresh!”

Taunt 3 (Down) – The Inkling lifts their right hand upward, cheering in their squid language “Come on!”

Defeat Pose- The Inkling is seen crouching on the ground, angrily punching their fist at the ground.

Victory Pose 1- The Inkling pumps their fists, throws their splatter shot into the air, and catches it with a smirk.

Victory Pose 2- Judd the Cat points victoriously at the Inkling as they pump their splatter shot in the air in triumph.

Victory Pose 3- The Inkling holds a zapfish towards the camera, and smirks with a victorious and heroic stance.

Stage---------------------------------------

Blackbelly Skatepark- The stage is a very long stage with platforms and a giant pillar in the middle that you can jump up to. The stage is originally blank, but eventually two Inklings (that have a different color pallet then anything the playable character can wear) appear on opposite sides of the stage. Like the Fighting Man, if you touch one of them, that Inkling will join your team and start to spray the stage with ink! You can only pick one inkling to have on your side, so choose your side wisely! The inklings will deal minor DMG with their splattershots, and can slow you down if you step in the opponent’s ink they have landed. Each inkling can be defeated though, deal enough DMG to them, and they will be defeated and respawn in about 2 minutes. The inklings will also attempt to attack eachother, so choose your winning side!

Special Abilities--------------------------

Ink- While you would think that Inklings would cover the field of smash with ink, I honestly felt that this would be unlikely if they ever made it into smash bros that they would implement this into their moveset. Instead, every attack the Inkling uses requires ink to use, but for a different reason then splating the battlefield. As you use smash attacks, your standard A attack, and specials (excluding the up special) your ink on your tank will deplete. Due to the Inkling being mostly a range fighter, every attack uses ink, and the more ink you use up the shorter the attack will reach, and the less DMG the attack will deal occasionally. Vice versa, if you have more ink you will deal more DMG and your attacks will reach a further distance.

Ink Tank- Next to the Inkling’s health bar is a small meter, this meter resembles the tank on the Inkling’s backs. As they use special attacks and smash attacks, the meter will deplete. To refill the ink you can do one of two things. The first method is to not attack and the ink will gradually restore itself. Or crouch or press the up taunt. Both of these turn the Inkling into a squid that is resting in a pool of ink, and will refill the ink tank quicker than not attacking.

Assist Trophies/Enemies-------------------------

Smash Run Enemy: Octarian- Octarian underlings appear as enemies in Smash Run, they attempt to fire slow moving ink shots at you, if you are hit with one your speed is decreased and you take DMG. Some Octarians also have a small shield in front of them, which can reflect projectiles and absorb DMG.

Assist Trophy: Octolings- An Octoling appears and laughs before getting ready to fight. The Octoling zips around the battlefield as an octopus form, and appears to fire ink at other players. The ink shots don’t deal knockback, but they fire ink rapidly and that can easily rack up DMG.

As Smash Bros. Fighters the Inklings would probably have a Moveset like this:
*Standard B: Ink Shooter
*Side B: Splat Bomb
*Up B: Squid Jump
*Down B: Bubbler
*Final Smash: Kraken

How will their final smash work? Will it be like Ryu's where you have to be at a certain distance?

You would hold B for a certain amount of time, then it would initiate the second final smash (Inkstrike) but while holding B, if you take any DMG you lose the smash ball.
