Description
Name: Funky Kong
Universe: Donkey Kong
Entrance: Funky Kong rides a radical wave onto the stage, where he performs a knarly handstand with his surfboard! He sticks the landing and gets ready to rumble.
Specials------------------------------
B- Boot Blaster- Funky Kong takes out his special secret weapon, the boot blaster from Donkey Kong 64! Holding B will allow you to aim the boot blaster and releasing B will launch a large boot about the size of Olimar forward wherever you are aiming. The boot deals more DMG and knockback the longer it is charged, indicating its power by a light on the blaster turning from green to yellow to red. After launching the boot, Funky Kong receives a bit of backward pushback depending on the strength of the boot, during which he is helpless so be careful not to be close to an edge when firing this weapon. The boot deals the most DMG when fully charged and adds insult to injury by playing a funny jingle when it makes contact with an opponent as it sends them flying.
Side B- Surfs Up- A massive wave of water appears under Funky Kong, as he hops on his surfboard and rides the wave forward! You can control which direction the wave travels in, and the initial turn around while changing direction deals extra DMG. While it is not a KO dealer of an action, the wave can string opponents along to build up DMG and Funky can quickly exit the wave and deliver aerial attacks if you are quick with the input. This move can also gain Funky extra air when used in the air and can go right into a second jump or recovery special.
Up B- Barrel Blast- Funky equips his bongo blasters from Donkey Kong Barrel Blast and uses them as his recovery special! This recovery is unique in which you can decide how high the recovery goes and can also control the speed and pace at which the recovery moves. After initially pressing Up B Funky equips the bongo blasters and (using exhaust from the end of the bongos) launches himself up a short distance. After you equip the bongos, you need to rapidly press B in order to keep ascending higher and higher. Press B again to give Funky a boost into the air! Each beat shows Funky slamming a fist into the bongos as they blast out exhaust at the ends of the bongos, and the recovery distance is essentially the same as a standard Donkey Kong jump height. You can press the bongos rapidly to make Funky rocket off quickly, or press them sporadically in order to rocket up, fall a bit, then rocket up again. You can press B up to 6 times for the recovery, if you press anymore after 6 the bongos give out a loud sputtering sound signaling them being out of gas and Funky enters a helpless falling animation. Once equipped, Funky cannot use other attacks until he lands on the ground to unequip the barrel blasters, and while in the air he can only attack with the barrel blasters. But, combining jump + side special + second jump + up recovery = a great range of recovery for Funky to show off his mastery of the skies.
Down B- Ground Pound- Funky Kong performs a ground pound similar to Donkey Kong’s down special. Funky has a bit more flare for the dramatics though and raises his hands higher to add more dazzle to his ground pound attacks. This means his down special is slower then Donkey Kong’s and has less range but deals slightly more DMG and if you simply press Down B once you have a high chance of burying opponents for a brief moment.
Final Smash- Funky Fists of Fury- Funky takes out his surfboard and performs a large horizontal slap with the flat side of the board. As he does this the board is followed by a wave about the same height as him rushing forward a short distance. If the board or wave contact any opponent(s) the opponent(s) are put into a slow motion dizzy state (similar to the end of a boss fight in Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze) where they fly backward into the air in slow motion. As they do this the screen zooms in on Funky Kong as he gets on the surfboard on his stomach and air paddles up to the opponent(s) as he gets close delivers a series of rapid paced slaps, kicks, surfboard trick attacks, booty bumps, and more as he rapidly delivers pain to the captured opponents! He delivers one final spinning slap with the surfboard as the opponents are sent flying with their DMG received.
SPECIAL ABILITIES------------------------------------------
Surfing Pro- When Funky Kong performs a jump, his surfboard automatically appears below him and spins rapidly like a skateboard or a helicopter blade. This happens for his standard jump and his double jump, and if he lands on an opponent’s head he gets extra air upward as he bounces off of them. You can also hold the jump button to make the surfboard spin rapidly, allowing Funky Kong to levitate similar to Peach.
