I agree with you on this. However, the way we think the US came to this conclusion I think we can safely say is not on the same lines.

The only reason that people don't actually do anything when faced with something that could negatively affect their lives is that they are either too lazy to do anything about it or too afraid to speak out against the negative actions. I fail to see any examples to the contrary.
