For those of you who weren't tracking....TTP is a really dangerous idea that we don't want, and the implication was that Gay Marriage was a distraction. The problem isn't about gay marriage, it's that people so violently focused their attention on that, either for or against, and like a football game on crack, they refused to be aware of other things.
"But, but, Gay rights and equality" this and "homophobia" that and "progress" the other.
If that's your response to this political cartoon, you have missed the point.
My regards to the Artist, IAmTheUnison, for pointing this out in such a way.

That's what they get! Here in Chicago, we conservatives are the ones who must hide.

The cities here have more liberals than the rural areas, but it ends up making a halfway between population here in spring, other cites are more red, the single blue country near Houston from the election was here, the results were nearly half and half.

Cities tend to be more "blue". That's why Illinois is a blue state, because we have Chicago; EXACT same thing with California and cities like Los Angeles. That's why the Electoral College is so important--our country would be forever liberal if we truly did a "popular vote", because only the major cities would matter.

Hmm, I should try that. The problem is, he seems to want to create this carbon-copy of his own childhood in his adulthood. When I tell him he needs to grow up he just tells me my experience was different because of my "unpleasant childhood" and when I say he's too attached to his family (like a man-child) he just tells me I'm not close enough to my family.

I hope so! I think he said he applied for some jobs there, like one at Texas Instruments? And I know the taxes are lower...because Cook County has the highest taxes in all of America now (10%).

S? Marriage equality is legal now. Thats NOT a bad thing! Maybe TPP sucks, but if they want to continue "distracting" us by giving us more freedoms, im not going to argue with them.

Forgive me for copy pasting, but my former post makes a great response: As someone who considers themselves to be transgender, I am completely against the ruling; what this ruling says is that the Supreme Court has unlimited power, with no need to go through the legislative or executive branches. Of course, it's not as though the executive branch hasn't acted similarly...
The fact that someone would throw away their rights over something as trivial as this is astounding; really, having the government recognize ceremonies they shouldn't be involved in to begin with is worth becoming a slave over? Why not get the government OUT of marriage? Then everyone wins, and we don't have to sacrifice our rights to procure it. Instead, most people think I should be selfish and hurt myself because it'll hurt others more.

Some would argue that it should never have been illegal to begin with. Abraham Lincoln over-ruled states rights to make slavery illegal but i don't think anyone would argue that he did the wrong thing. The laws and rules exist to protect us, just just to be blindly followed without any sort of logic or judgment. And marriage isn't just about being allowed to perform some feel-good ceremony, there's a lot of rights and privileges that a spouse gets that same sex couple should have access to.

Slavery was never technically legal under the constitution, even though it was overlooked in many states. The government giving any benefits for married couples similarly was never legal. But by partaking of this, we've made ourselves accomplices... Imagine if in the 60s, the KKK told blacks that they'd stop targetting them and let them have special privileges if they'd shut up and join them... That's essentially the bargain we accepted with this so-called "marriage equality" where we've allowed the government to have a hand in marriage.
Beyond that, we've allowed them to expand their power... We've told them that power grabs are perfectly fine, as long as we get a little something out of it. Is allowing judges to become tyrants really worth the price of gaining special privileges that no one should be getting in the first place? How is that any different than a white person in the 60s saying "Yeah, what the KKK is doing isn't right, but I have a better job because I don't have to compete with blacks."?

I was recently talking with a friend about how I suspected that the whole same-sex marriage legalization was a ploy to distract the country from something else that was going on, but I wasn't sure what...this puts it all in perspective.
