Thank you, it was planned as a river trip on a sunny day for two friends visiting from Australia. We had to be satisfied with the rain, but it gave us different and in some ways, more interesting images. I often take my camera out when it rains; there are great opportunities, particularly at night, when wet surfaces reflect the light. Guilin and the Li Jiang river are beautiful rain or shine.

Thank you.
There have been several floods in China since this one with hundreds lost, despite better rescue resources these days. The weather is getting more unpredictable and extreme. Which world do they live on, those morons who insist there is no climate change/global warming problem.

The whole day it rained and we got literally dozens of shots like this. This one was a random pick from a short-list of about twenty of the best.
Thanks for the fave and comment.

Thank you, this was a quick submission after a recent trip on the Li Jiang in rainy weather. Subsequent choices for processing have proven to be even more dramatic.
The Li Jiang is quite beautiful in the rain or on misty winter mornings. It has been an inspiration for artists for centuries.
The day after this trip the river rose 12 meters in some places and many events were washed out. Three days later, the flood had subsided to near normal levels.

I got so many great shots in these rainy days it was a case of pick-a-number.
I'm going to try for a "Chinese painting" look in some of them by removing some background, leaving empty white spaces that really highlight the major elements of the composition.
I need to get to a computer with PhotoShop. I'm using a little laptop for now as I had never intended to post photos anywhere till I'd gotten home to Australia and my desktop PC.

Thank you, the Li Jiang can be quite beautiful in the rain, though it is difficult to capture.(low light-levels and delicate wisps of mist/cloud that give it that magic feel and are easily processed out by a heavy hand).
