Description Warning: Asteroid Strike

Doctor: 'We can't stop now, Derpy, keep going! Keep going! Computer! Get us out NOW!'

Derpy: 'Aww bye bye, kitty!'

-----------------------------------------------

The Doctor tries out a new time machine. The CTX Time Rover! XD

Well, I figured I'd continue the Disney crossovers into other realms. So here we go, straight from Disney World's Animal Kingdom, "DINOSAUR", formerly known as "Countdown to Extinction", if you remember it when the ride was opened. And I figured who better for a time machine ride than Doctor Whooves and his time traveling companion, Derpy!

Probably my favorite theme park ride of all time.

It's just so cool!

328 Layers (Nearly crashed my computer), Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop CS4, six hours.

Why is it when I see this Carnotaur attacking them, I think of the Beast from Doctor Who acting his revenge in the form of a dinosaur

This is at Disney's Animal Kingdom park over here in Florida. So, it's a bit far off from the west coast. XD

If you ever make it over here, you should go on it.

Maddog3060 [2012-03-12 05:54:24 +0000 UTC]

My mother works for Disney, so I got to ride it when the park was still in testing. It was better then: you actually saw the asteroid hit the planet and the rover thing shook to make you "feel" it. It was way cooler than the current version. (Unless they've added it back in since I was there last.)

It's still one of the better theme park rides, though. But I'll still love Big Thunder Mountain. \m/

Icaron In reply to Maddog3060 [2012-03-14 13:11:06 +0000 UTC]

Awesome! ^w^

The earliest time I remember riding it was in 1999, right before they changed it. It terrified the living hay outta me, but man I loved it. Albeit, it's still great now, just not quite as great as it once was. And no, the asteroid impact wasn't added back to the best of my knowledge, they still have the blast of air and the flash of light right before you go under the Carnotaurus, but no thud of the impact.

Big Thunder Mountain, now there's a classic. I think I may just draw something for that one too

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Maddog3060 In reply to Icaron [2012-03-14 13:19:33 +0000 UTC]

The asteroid impact was half the awesome. Especially since you saw it in the sky several times in the ride's background. Ah, well.

BTM, classic indeed.

LavaZombie In reply to Maddog3060 [2012-03-12 11:42:33 +0000 UTC]

They also had the footsteps of the Carnotaurus so it felt like it was chasing you even when you weren't nearby.
I wish they hadn't toned down the ride like they did.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Maddog3060 In reply to LavaZombie [2012-03-12 11:44:21 +0000 UTC]

I know. They made it all wussy. Thanks for reminding me of the footsteps, though, that brought back the good memories.

Also loved the part where the bullasaurus rex (I know, Carnotaurus or whatever) is chasing you and you and the robot come real close, like almost collision close, before the vehicle turns away.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LavaZombie In reply to Maddog3060 [2012-03-12 11:50:03 +0000 UTC]

That still happens on the current ride.

LavaZombie In reply to Maddog3060 [2012-03-12 18:59:20 +0000 UTC]

I actually thought of a cool addition to the ride.
The rover stops short in some mud and after seven seconds, the jungle goes silent except for booming footsteps. The doctor then says "What was that?" before the Carnotaurus charges from behind and gets so close the passengers can feel its breath and rams the rover with its head, knocking it out of the mud and sending it down a hil which results in the rover having to find a long way up and you lose a lot of time.

Maddog3060 In reply to LavaZombie [2012-03-13 00:29:52 +0000 UTC]

That would've been cool, but also remember they were working with space constraints. Still, that is a nifty idea. I likes it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LavaZombie In reply to Maddog3060 [2012-03-13 00:51:27 +0000 UTC]

If they were working with tight space constraints, how did they have the parts they removed? But the ride is already huge to begin with.
