Darkwing looked up from his magnifying glass to scan the SHUSH team that was sweeping the museum exhibit for clues. Bah,   he scoffed with a smirk, if anyone is going to find any leads to that ramshackle ringtail it’s going to be me.    After all, he had him right where he wanted him before the crafty criminal clouded his corneas with… he blinked… cr… creative clandestinely!  He smiled to himself. That was a good one, he’d have to write it down to use later. It was over the usual barking orders of Agent Grizzlikof that he heard a new voice, a womanly voice that made his eyes rise from the specks of dirt the rascal had left behind.  He peered through the throngs of stiff shirted agents and saw a flicker of a bushy orange tail.  He saw a finger pointed at him, and he straightened up proudly.  The agents scrambled away as a lovely fox started toward him.  He took off his hat and smoothed out his hair feathers with a smirk.

“Yep yep yep… just another fair maiden coming to faun over the fearless fighter of felons. “   He thought to himself as he watched her move across the room stiffly.

He didn’t know who she was, but she obviously wasn’t with SHUSH.  Her toned midriff was bare and her tight black pants disappeared into worn looking brown boots.  Her top was more like a cut off corset and Darkwing had to admit…the view was rather impressive.  Her hair was black and curly it fell around her face dramatically and was wrestled into a serious braid that hung down her back.  She wore a tan jacket and matching gloves… she was currently pulling on one, as if to make it tighter.  He wondered why.

“You’re Darkling Duck?” Her charming voice lined with the slightest Spanish accent confronted him.

“Close  Ms.!” He puffed up his chest and made himself look dashing. “I am the terror that flaps in the night, I am the security guard that remembered to check every cranny I am Darkwing Duck!”

A fist hit him in the face faster than he could finish the speech off with a wink.

“You’re a moron!” She growled. “Do you know how long I’ve been tracking Cooper down? Do you know how long it took me to set this trap up? And you… you just…” She snarled angrily and clenched her fists.

Darkwing stared at her and absently rubbed his abused face. His pride caught up to him at record speed.

“Hey hey! I think you’d outta leave the dramatics to me lady!” He frowned and she returned the action ten times more efficiently.  He wondered if she ever learned how to smile. “What’s the big idea? You can’t just parade around slugging people you know, it’s not very lady like.”

“Lady like?” She narrowed her eyes at him, had he not been so intent to stand his ground he would have let out a weak 'yipes' and scampered behind the closest pillar. She jabbed her finger into his chest… which required her to bend down slightly… he hated being so short. “Do you have any idea how much time you’ve just wasted? How many months of planning you destroyed with that… stupid interference of yours?”

“I’m going to have to say… no.” He folded his arms.

There was a shimmer of gold and he found a well polished star emblazoned badge shoved in his face.

“I am Inspector Carmelita Montoya Fox of INTERPOL, Paris division…”

“…funny you don’t look French to me.” He mumbled. She ignored him.

“… and you have just aided an infamous criminal make off with a priceless artifact.  I’m going to need you to go to Headquarters for questioning.”

“Woah woah woah, hold it toots.” He saw a fire erupt in her brown eyes that he had hoped to spark.  “Darkwing Duck answers to no one… and I was trying to bring him in.  It’s not my fault you didn’t make it in time to beat me to the punch.” He grimaced… bad choice of words.

“We were monitoring the situation from outside! We were going to follow him out to his safe house but now you’ve ruined every chance we had!”

“Pfft.  Don’t worry I’ll apprehend the offending outlaw post haste!” He swung his cape around him with a flourish. She instantly seized him by the collar.

“No. You’re going to keep your big bill out of my way or I’m going to have you arrested for disrupting a delicate operation.”

“Delicate?” He scoffed as he released himself from her grip. “I fail to see any delicacy here.”

“Yoo vill do as de Inspecktor says.” Growled a familiar voice and Darkwing rolled his eyes as the massive grizzly bear joined them.

“Well it’s nice to see some sanity in this law system.” The ‘Inspecktor’ glanced at Grizzlikof less annoyed than he’d ever seen her.

“Sanity?” He snorted. “Who needs sanity?” He suddenly received two wary glances and he meekly cleared his throat. “That came out wrong. What I mean is, I’ll have this ‘Cooper’ in custody in two clicks of a cuff! I’ll show him what happens when he shows up Darkwing Duck!”

There was an explosion of blue smoke and when it cleared the mallard was gone.  Carmelita’s tail flicked angrily… Cooper was   her assignment… she’d eat her badge if this vigilante was going to deny her his capture.
