Background

Blair was the first born child of Maria and Edward Monroe. The Monroe’s were at the start of a traveling adventure in search for historical objects. As they traveled they raised Blair under high standards. They wanted to grow up to be smart and educated, but it came off as wanting to grow up faster instead of letting her be a care free child. She wore pain dresses, stayed inside to read books, and only did school work before going to bed and starting the cycle over again. This only accelerated when her fraternal twin brother and sisters where born; Charlie and Arthur. They may not look completely a like, but they acted very similar to each other. The parents had practically raised the three on separate wave lengths in order to keep Blair on the course of education, and having the twins grow into another course of ‘success’.

As Blair started elementary school to high school, her passion for theater was very prominent. Out of all the things in her controlled life, she could control herself on the stage. She sang in elementary choir, preformed in middle school musicals,  and eventually earning lead rolls in high school productions. She was the lead girl of the shows and helped with the backstage elements. She slowly started to become a theater prodigy, her confidence at her highest point. Charlie and Arthur approved and completely supported their older sister, compared to her parents who were not very fond of the idea of Blair working in the theater world. Maria would still enforce Blair to work for something similar to archeology, so they can continue the family legacy of searching and presenting ancient treasures. Blair did enjoy her families work, but still had a passion she wanted to continue through college.

As time went on, Blair’s confidence started to lower. Mainly because of the consent commentary from her mother not wanting her to continue in the theater business. Even though she had opportunities handed to her, they never went anywhere because of Blair being held back.

Blair started college with a theater scholarship, and with her mother’s insistence she was getting her degree in archeology. Blair would have changed it later down the road if it wasn’t for one student on campus; Zack Holtan. Blair was never one to care for relationships since she was far too busy trying to get her work done. Once Zack entered her life he showed a genuine interest in her. Blair was hesitant at first but eventually was drawn by Zack’s charm and kind nature. The strange thing about it was that Zack never officially asked and wanted Blair to be his girlfriend yet, he would just keep hinting at wanting her to be around him more. He showed that he wanted her, which made Blair feel cared about, even if Zack acted very strange about it. She noticed too late that he would do this with every girl he came into contact with on campus. In Blair’s mind she wasn’t really dating Zack so why would it matter? Regardless, something about his actions made her form slightly jealous, which intern manipulate her into wanting to be around him more. It got to the point to where if she wasn’t around him he would try to do things in order to keep her close. Examples being: he needed help with homework and was stressed out, offer help with the college theater, change her class schedule so they can see each other in class more. It was all a way to make Blair seem like she was cared for and to gain his trust. Blair didn’t think much of it, only rejecting him a few times due to the fact she was busy or slightly unnerved by his actions. Then one day, Zack finally confessed, by pushing her against a wall and kissing her. He confessed that he wanted to be with her the day he laid his eyes on her, completely seducing Blair and accepting his offer to be with him. She felt happy, slightly nervous, but happy that someone would care about her in such a loving way. Finally, one night Blair was invited to go to a party with Zack off campus. Things seemed very fun at first, until Zack invited her to go into a private room with him. She was very concerned by this invitation, following him reluctantly. Blair was very vocal about not really trusting whatever idea he had planned, but Zack reassured her that it was just something to get away from the large crowd of party goers. Once Blair followed him to this private area, she discovered his true nature. Inside the room was multiple girls, waiting and wanting Zack to join so he could have them all to himself. Blair was frightened by this, and just stood frozen as Zack practically had a harem of girls and she was one of them. Zack tried to encourage her to join in on the fun displayed right in front of her, but all she did was hold back the urge to vomit. Before the girls could touch Blair she ran out of the room and left the party. She locked herself away in her dorm and isolated herself away from Zack, her heart shattered. She could have been used by this man, she was just another toy for him to use. She thought just cutting him out of her life would save herself, but Zack was not willing to except defeat.

After the horrible night, Blair continued through college feeling like everyone was giving her the cold shoulder. People then started laughing at her, mocking her, avoiding her. She didn’t understand what the problem was. It was so bad that even people in her college theater league didn’t see her the same and treated her like she made a mistake. She come to realize Zack had maliciously spread false rumors to everyone Blair knew, just to isolate and have her go back to him by default. She couldn’t fix it, everyone had been told one rumor that was different from the other, and they were so bad to the point no one would want to be around her. Something in her cracked, everyone around her thought she was a terrible mistake. Her confidence was completely gone. Blair never went back to Zack, no matter how hard he tried and made things worse every single day. She avoided him with every fiber of her being, only finally being free by graduation.

After this event Blair was never the same. She didn’t continue in the theater world, she just wanted to help her family with the archeology and the Monroe family name. This was all just so she can hide herself from the world, feeling like all her hope and dreams were undeserved. She would rather have her twin siblings be the voices and performers of the family. As the years past, Blair started to try and find new ways to take control of her life again, not wanting her mother’s control to weigh her down, and wanting to move on from the hell she went through in college. The only way to do that was to dye her hair from her natural blonde, to purple. It was one of her many childhood wants that she could never have. She hid behind a child at heart persona to get through her horrendous mental state. It seemed like her life was heading to a downward spiral of digging in dirt and travelling across America.

Until she discovered the mask

While at dig site, the Monroe’s discovered a collection of ancient artifacts related to warriors and mages. They all had something in relation to a ghost monster named Kurazog. A trickster god of some kind that was known by historic as an urban legend. The Monroe’s discovered two main artifacts: The Tome of Kurazog, and the Mask of the Guardian.

The Tome is in reference to a book, and it is told to be the prison of Kurazog after the Guardian had defeated and trapped the trickster within the pages. The mask was what the Guardian wore and provided his ancient power. In summary, the artifacts lead back to ghosts from hundreds of years ago. This discovery was huge for Maria and Edward, granting them more recognition than ever before. They decided this will be the families main course of discovery, since there were possibly more artifacts related to Kurazog and possibly other ghost warriors related to the legend. Blair was very excited for this step forward for her family, she felt lucky since she was the one who found the mask of the Guardian. Once everyone researched the power and danger of Kurazog, Blair started to get rather concerned. It didn’t help that her parents wanted to open the Tome and risk the chance of freeing Kurazog onto the world. Her concern and fear started to get the attention of the mask, seeing that it started to glow with ghost power every time she was around. It was almost like the mask could sense that she wanted to do something for the greater good, and was willing to help her. As time passed and more and more people wanted to see the artifacts, Blair tried to put her foot down about not wanting anything dangerous, and in the haze of her trying to protect the Tome, the mask had found its way on to her face. It had forced itself onto her, allowing her to turn into the Guardian, gaining her ghost powers. The spirit of the Guardians lives  on through Blair, allowing her fight back ghost and collect other artifacts without the risk of her family getting hurt by Kurazog and the ghosts who would want to take the Tome. This changed her life, allowing herself to regain her confidence, but only through the mask itself. She started to gain a persona through the mask, naming herself Masquerade.

Wow, she's pretty.

In fact, she gives me a little inspiration for a character I'm working on for a fanfiction I'm working on.

A crossover between Danny Phantom and Capcom's video game hit, Devil May Cry.

I really enjoyed the backstory and I love the reference pictures, the only thing I think should be changed is the skirt on Masquerade, mainly the color. It's offputting since the arm and leg armor are so similar in style to the skirt yet are different colors.

Now I'm not saying completely get rid of the blue, but perhaps think about changing the lighter blue to the same gray as said limb armor and keep the deeper blue as an accent color, maybe even add a little blue to the other pieces of armor to make the off more cohesive.

While I'm at color changing it might be more meaningful to change the cloak from green to purple, not only would it tie in with her backstory with the hair dye, but the Mardi gras colors (purple, green and gold) all have there own meaning and purple means justice, which could if the whole guardian/protector aspect of Masquerade (plus Mardi gras has the whole Masquerade aesthetic).

But if there is already a meaning behind the colors then ignore me have have a nice day.
