I watched Tekkonkinkreet again today, and as last time I felt like doing a fan art. I'm pretty happy with it, but I guess some things could have been better

Somehow, it doesn't seem complete. I really like the colouring and lack of details on the main character, but still I just feel like there's missing something. Also, I don't really feel comfortable with the hard circle of shaddow at det bottom, which you probably knowingly made hard in stead of soft. But still, good job. In my eyes, there's not much that separates this from being good instead of really great.
Perhaps it would have been cool with an extremely blurred photograph as the background?

Hmm, perhaps. I'll try blurring the shadow and see how that looks, and I'll see how well it works with a background. Maybe I'll paint something really rough and blur it to give it some depth
