I love the opulence of these fabrics.

This is beautiful and gorgeous, completely.
I love the colors..and...and...everything. May I ask if that is a katsura wig, and where you obtained one? And if you used real oshiroi, because the makeup looks so prettily done.

Thank you for the lovely compliments. I purchased a wig at the costume store and styled it myself. The makeup is actually "Stein's cake makeup", what clowns use. I can't fine oshiroi here in my city, it's quite sad. The makeup isn't sticky and it doesn't crack, but it does have a powdery residue, which can rub off onto clothing.

Wonderful! The effect came off quite well, as with the makeup, which, at least in the picture, is lovely. I'm just so impressed how professional it looks without using a $600 dollar wig (um, I assume ) !

Being a student, I've learned to make things look like the real thing, without paying an arm, a leg and a vital organ...

Wig $24. Flowers and combs from the dollar store, $7. Looking awesome - priceless.

Beautiful costume and lovely choice of colors. The contrast of the red and the black is phenomenal. I like the way you tied the Obi, too.

Sensational. I love the detail of the skin of the neck showing through the makeup. You are so hired.

Oh I did quite an extensive research before making this costume. I was working for a large insurance company that has a large multicultural setting, where I was planning on wearing this to on Halloween. I sure didn't want to offend anyone, or have anyone tell me I'm actually a hooker, and not a geisha (this is actually a maiko costume...). I saw some pictures on the internet of the obi tied on the front and I though "well, isn't that peculiar..." and found out that they were prostitutes.
Crisis avoided.

Heh.. It'd have been a twist on the "skanky girl" costume.. You'd be telling people, no, honestly, I'm a prostitute! but next to the hookery "female cop outfit with the fuzzy cuffs", people would have to do the long slow blink. Possibly several times.

The sad part is I went to the bar that year and wore the Geisha costume and I was up for best costume... and then the girl dressed as Wonder Woman who did a hand-stand won. I'm not even joking. ugh

Maybe you could have poured tea on her head.. in a delightfully flowing and artistic way..

That would have been gold. I just walked away. I couldn't even be disappointed... y'know?
Geh... it's so sad what people will go for these days...
