Thank you! Flattering words considering all the awesome stuff out there. The scales were done in layers, first with alphas dragged onto the surface, followed by the Flakes brush with a custom alpha. then some hand sculpting to finish it up. Thanks again!

Amazing, I can't learn Zbrush to save my life. Did you start this with zspheres?

yeah this was done in 3.5, and in 3.5r3. So all Zspheres :]

No problem at all! For the most part the forms are built up with Clay Tubes (now I use Clay Buildup a lot more), and I carve in some of the shapes with DM_Standard in a contour style. Like drawing in the muscles, and building them up with clay. For some of the other details, I would block things in with an alpha then do some hand sculpting to exaggerate those details and add a more human touch to it. To get the plate scales, I would use Flakes and replace it's cookie shaped alpha with a round one. Layer that up and yer pretty much done! Small tweaks and adjustments were done with move brush and inflate.

Oh ok, that's pretty much the process I've been using. I just felt dumb cause I felt I was doing it wrong, much appreciated.

Nice concept and details.
The pose is very very well rendered, I really feel the heavy weight but very soft and elegant and powerfull swimming movement. Very good!

Sweet sculpt, but is this going to actually be able to support its weight when printed?
π: 0 β©: 1
Ikameka In reply to Daemoria [2010-07-08 22:29:02 +0000 UTC]
The print will be done in separate pieces, cast, molded, and assembled together :]
