This is the first time I post something with Uriel, so it's normal that those of you who've been watching me for a while don't recognize him
First of alll, if I post any nonsense in here, keep in mind it's almost 2am where I am, and I'm seriously sleep deprived! (can't help it, really, but I'll try to stay on topic)I think I've been on a Revolt Against GOD frenzy cuz that's just about all I post in the finished art category
Can't be a bad thing though, can it? So I tried to give each character a bit of color from his element. Green, yellow, red, blue; you see the pattern. I dunno if it's just me, but the faces feel a bit different from my usual style. It must've come from the Naruto overdose even if it looks nothing like Masashi Kishimoto's style Ok, moving on.EDIT: I forgot to say that I was originally trying to give them arabic looking outfits, but it turned out kinda asian
Bleeeh. [I've probably used the emote like 7 times in this comment... so obnoxious.]Since many people who responded to my inquiry on artist descriptions, and mentionned that they liked hearing about how a pic came to be, I wanted to post the details behind this pic!
Technical aspects and origin:
-The idea for this pic came while I was practicing how to draw flowers. Since... I'm just bad at drawing flowers. A big portion of my page was empty and I decided to fill it with people, and so yayayayya!
-Because my page was reused paper (back side was filled), I had to ink the sketch digitally with the Pen tool, which took FOREVER AND A DAY! Cuz I'm not used to it. But. The. Pen. Tool. Is. LOVE-R-LY~~! People, you gotta try it
The 'Simulate Pressure' option is godly and OMG CLEANNESS!-On the coloration side, I used a mix of cel-shade and soft-shade. Although naturally, the cel-shading is more apparent. You can see the different shades in the darker colors. Gaussian Blur and the Gradient tool were also employed.
Oh yeah, 91 layers on the original file! I felt the need to say it cuz it's so close to 100 and there's 20 more than the last thing I counted
Yup, I got nuts with layers and then the file takes a couple of minutes to save. It's not particularly reassuring when Winamp starts to skip your songs 2-3 times in a row!For those who are going to comment, I have a request. I know a lot of people are accustommed to writing short fragments like 'cool' or 'thats nice', but I really would like to hear your opinion on what you think is cool or nice
Also, what do you think I should continue doing? What did you like about the image or what did you dislike? [Psssst, who's the best looking one? Haha, just kidding!] So anyway, thanks in advance to those who hear me out!---

Though Uriel's element is earth I was focussing on the fact that he has a flaming hand (or sword depending on where your reading) when looking at the colours, so I mixed him with Michael

The only problem i have is that Uriel's actual color is purple, Michael's is blue, and Gabriel's is white. Other that that this is amazing.

Thanks, glad you like it! The colors vary depending on which legend you follow. For example, these four Archangels exist in Christianity, Judaism and Islam, but they have different attributes in each version (in fact, there are more than four archangels in some scripts).

I remember my dad teaching about the different levels of angels and which were the most highly respected. My favorite was Gabriel. And in this picture, I thought Uriel was Gabriel XDD Silly me~
I really like how you have interpreted them. They give off a feeling of purity, along with a sense of duty. And I love how the clothes looked. May look more asian but I like it. :3

Archangels differ depending on which mythology you are following. I don't consider him an Archangel in my version, but you can check him out here: [link]

Gosh, I love the lighting you did in this piece, it seems so unique to me. And for some strange reason I'm attached to Uriel's braid. **strokes braid on computer screen**
P.S. I really love Rapheal's hair piece, but Uriel gets my vote.

Uriel and Gabriel look rather oriental. Raphael's hair piece makes him look oriental as well. Micheal on the other hand is perfect :3
It might have looked more Egyptian instead of oriental if you had set it with a background of sand instead of all flowers?
At any rate it's something I'd love to read. Have you added anything to DA?

It's not on dA, but I'm planning to start a comic version in the future. The script is in progress.
I didn't want them to look Egyptian; and the oriental look was on purpose. I'm referring to the Middle-Eastern/Eastern style and a bit of addition from the fantasy genre. At any rate, these aren't their official get-ups 8D
I guess the flowers were partly because I had access to a lot of them at the time and wanted practice, but also because angels are gentle creatures (lol)!

Yeah by Arabic, I was thinking a bit more in the style of Aladdin or those stories.
I will start drawing the storyboard for the story some time next week. I'm currently at chapter 5 for the written work and have a lot of content in my head. Just too tired to work on it because I'm preparing for a local anime convention.

Good work. I like the idea behind the hair. Kinda how I would perceive them. Especially Michael. Though so you know, none of the Archangels would turn against God. Michael is the commander of the Army of angels and a Prince of Heaven. Gabriel is a messenger of God. Uriel is the keeper of the luminaries, the stars. Each of them has a place and have already chosen to remain faithful to God. Whether you like it or not that is the truth.

The story is called Revolt Against GOD, I didn't mention anywhere that the Archangels will turn against God in fact the story doesn't even revolve around them. However if they did rebel it'd be because it's fiction

Alright. Thanks for the clarification. I really do love your drawing. I was just in a search for artwork of Michael the Archangel and your picture came up. I'm intrigued by it and love the portrayal of the characters. I myself want to do a story that deals with angels. Course it is one of many I want to do. I would love to read your story. Is it posted here on Deviant?

I don't have the story produced actually. Many ideas are there, but everything is not connected yet, so I haven't put it on paper so far.
I'm happy to hear you're interested in it though, it is very encouraging to know
This and other stories are probably things I will work on more after I'm done with my fan manga project.
Also, if you have a story in mind, you should definitely work on it!
