Description In hindsight, the Terran Protectorate had many warnings of problems on the Colonies of the Line before things came to a head. But like with all such disputes, it was hard to believe with so many external threats that the most dangerous would come from within.

I hate deviantart sometimes... there's another link I meant to post, but couldnt, and out of frustration deleted it and just posted what I had.... DA thinks the site I'm posting from is... 'spam'... Apparently they don't like their competition...

I envision that the tech by this point allows them to be just as accurate as an autocannon.

No no, this link was for a viewing of someone with an anti-personnel sniper-railgun rifle, although lower-tech, would kick just about anybody else off their feet with the recoil. In DUST 514, the players are Immortals, their bodies(and clones), specifically designed and morphed to hold a gun weighing 50+kg, and able to crisp a normal person with each shot, if the person didn't already have a personal shield projector. If an Immortal is killed, or about to die, their minds are flash-'frozen', and a picture is taken, so to speak, of the entire mind, transferring consciousness and knowledge to the next body instantaneously, or near-enough to instaneous that it doesn't matter, they WILL come back, and they WILL finish the job until their cloning tubes run out of cloning material, or their command centre is destroyed, with no hope of recovery.

Hmmm... for a 'point-defense' tool, you might wish for autocannons or blasters, which both are better for taking out swifter and smaller craft. Railguns are more known for their RANGE than they are for their tracking and damage, although there are designs for handheld anti-ship railguns...

The second link is a picture of a sniper-railgun, able to shoot down fighters WITH EASE, and even, story-wise, to shoot down frigates and destroyers.

The first link is just plain fun and awesome.

All your ship designs are great, it is difficult to like just a single one, but of this picture I like the look of it being a snapshot made by a infiltrant. Can we read the complete background-setting somewhere?

Eventually. I am working on a graphic novel and want to do a role-playing game as well. Right now, you have to piece together much of it from hints on the pictures in the Freelancers and Ships galleries. There's also some of the earlier stuff at www.super-nexus.com and then click on Riftspace, though that is a modified version for the Rifts game and some story elements were changed.

The hell kind of torpedoes have launch tubes that frigging big?

basically old "city buster" nuke technology on long-range chem rockets. Sometimes they even fire MIRVs. The tech is almost exactly the same, except the guidance systems are more advanced.

So, by torpedoes, you mean ICBMs on a space cruiser. Just checking.

yep...but with near-AI guidance systems.

AI MIRV torpedoes. That's nasty.

and doesn't require "photon torpedo" level technology.

That's good, our stunt fighters use proton torpedoes.
