My own personal 13"neck torc, a 'Torc' or Houwers torc. 'Torc' is irish for boar, and my surname 'Houwers' is Dutch for the tusks of a boar.The idea of a torc like this has been in my mind for a long time, but never did I get a design down that really felt 'right'. In the end, I went for a raw, and natural handcrafted look... much like older silver-smithcraft. I adore the raw and yet delicate look of this torc, and I'm proud to say that it finally feels right. It feels like a 'me' item, it is part of me.
The tusk caps contain a small Celtic boar-head, of which the neck and bristles go into a braid that wraps around the tusk. The back panel of these caps are just smooth silver.
The tusks of this torc are the smaller tusks, and come from a respectfully hunted animal. I know the hunter personally, and have great respect for him. All parts of the boar were used and honoured, and nothing went to waste. I requested the tusk for personal and spiritual reasons, and this is the result.

Ive been fascinated with braided metal like this for quite some time! Ive attempted it but couldnt manage to braid the wire tight enough. You wouldnt by any chance be willing to offer me pointers on this technique would you?

Thank you you're kind to be willing to help me out, but I actually ended up figuring it out the other day. I thought it was braided all along, but realized it was a series of wires twisted one way, then put together and twisted the other way. Cool technique!

They are made on commission yes, but the price depends on whom delivers the tusks and the size of them obviously in regards to the custom silver fittings

This is really stunning, the boar tusks add a nice and more personal touch to the entire piece. The little celtic boar heads are gorgeous, and as always your attention to detail is amazing! Beautiful, I hope to see more picture's of these elsewhere!
