This is brilliant! I am a gourd artist, and I would love to burn this image on an apple gourd. I would credit your design with any photo postings (provided it ever comes into fruition). Would this be acceptable to you? If not, I totally understand. It's just that now that I've seen this, I can't unsee/unimagine it : ).

Beautiful. Love the words on it, too - makes it look vintage and so pretty! How long did it take you to cut this out?

Wow, this is amazing. This is one of my favorite Grimms tales (my first is most definitely Sleeping Beauty), and while you picked the moment everyone knows, I'm hankering to see more moments from this tale. It's just such a great tale made for paper cutting, I think. The original Grimms tale of Cinderella is another. The Grimms are fabulous.
I especially love the paper you choose. It's perfect.

I want to do a scene from Sleeping Beauty, but I'm not sure which scene I should do. I thought about doing the moment when she poked her finger on the spindle, but I'm not sure how to frame it.

It depends what you want to do. Do you want a scene that most everyone will know or one that's particular to the Grimm's story?
My particular favorite scene is when the prince comes to the castle after a hundred years, and instead of seeing thorns that had killed many many men who had been killed trying to get Sleeping Beauty, they had turn to flowering shrubs and he was allowed to pass without harm. That one is particular to the story. (Ahem, not to be sexual or anything, but talk about a not so subtle way about waiting for the right person in a fairy tale. Of course, fairy tales were originally meant to be told to other women coming of age and adults, not children!)
The kiss is my other favorite, obviously, where everything outside comes to life again. The Grimms spend this moment in the kitchen where the cook had fallen asleep when he was about to box a boy's ear and he was finally able to finish it one hundred years later. I found that particularly funny! You could frame that a bit like you did the 7 Dwarves. Make a simple castle, put the kiss up in a tower and put the scenes you like best in the areas of the castle. This one is a combination of the movie and the book.
I wonder if the cook knew what he was boxing the poor boy's ears for all those years later!
The first version I'm leaving is a particular favorite of mine as it's more descriptive (I used it for an essay), but the second one is the one the Grimm's wrote down originally from the people they listened to who brought these stories, before they were forced to edit out things and then rewrite them to please publishers.

Thank you! You could totally do it too. You just need an exacto knife to cut it, and a cutting mat. And make sure all of your lines are connected before you cut it out. Paper choice is also important. Thin paper is easier to cut but tears easy. Thick paper is hard to cut, but is sturdy. I like thin paper because it cuts smoothly.

The handwriting was on the paper. It was some pretty cardstock I bought at walmart.

Gorgeous! What do you use to cut the paper? Just scissors, or something else?

I use an exacto knife to cut the paper. I don't think I could have made this with scissors. I used pretty cardstock, about the same thickness as printer paper, so it is pretty thin. Its easy to cut, but it also tears easily. I also used a plastic cutting mat, so I wouldn't ruin the table.
