I tried my best with the plane; it's not perfect, but still I can say I like how it turned out (and this cartoon-ish style helps here - the plane shouldn't be super realistic

Indeed, well it's kinda funny because even though you did a cartoonish style on the face/expression the uniform still looks very well done and close to realistic regardless. Also the background looks nice as well.
And definitely doesn't need to be perfect, I've had a few submissions where I keep messing with it trying to make it close to the idea of how I would consider something to be "perfect" only to find I wouldn't get anything done that way.
Anyway, great submission.
