Description The title "HISTORY" was chosen for many reasons.

This image was taken in NYC on the Brooklyn Bridge on my way into Manhattan with friends. On that day there was a huge fire down in the Southern States (sorry I can't remember what state) but, the fire was so massive that the smoke traveled up the East Coast into NYC and beyond. The image may look like an overcast day but what you are seeing is actually smoke from the fire.

This image also captures the World Trade Centers in NYC prior to 911 when the building tumbled and so many lives were lost.

For me this image also depicts friendships lost over time. As we all know friends come and go but the memories never fade.

"HISTORY" - Film Photography 1987-88.

oh manyo AWESOM PIC just too small to really impact emotions of nostalgia... you took this in 1987? damn yo i was too young... i was born in 85 in 87 i think iwas living in bay ridge or arizona still, i wishi was old enough to see this day, andif the picture wa sbigge rit woulda invoked so much in me... i love the grainy texture of th epic thoguh and the black and white makes it relaly vintage, the offset balance and the fadded bg of the twin towers, all in all its a grade A shot in my books :worship

I am truly pleased that you enjoyed this image. The amazing thing about your comment in regard to the towers fadding into the background is the fact that they are actually incased in smoke from an out of control fire many miles (and states) away in the southern part of the United States. Again I am delighted you enjoyed this image

Very cool image, I'm pretty sure that fire was in Florida...There was a really nasty one down there a few years ago. It missed my borthers house by about two blocks...they actually had fire trucks patrolling the interstate it got so bad. It was about a year before 9/11.

IMAGEMKRPHOTO In reply to Babazull [2006-03-08 07:17:39 +0000 UTC]

Glad you enjoyed the image. It was actually taken back in the late 80s. I think the fire was in Georgia but I am honestly not sure.

Glad to hear your brother’s house was spared, the forces of nature are so unforgiving.

The imagery is very nice. The twin towers shouded in smoke is emotional deja vue (even if it happened before 9/11). It is a nice capture of old and new--the bridge and the skyline of Manhattan.

Thank you very much. I am glad you enjoyed the image. The last 6 images have all been B&W film photography. I did every thing from rolling the film to processing & developing. I so miss having access to a darkroom.

wow i love this, feels like its out of the 1950s must have been a sight all that smoke. Ah yes ive done b&w film in a dark room it can be frustating some times. Back in 1988 the machines must have been worse back then, i can imagine

IMAGEMKRPHOTO In reply to addicted2cyanide [2006-03-01 17:21:15 +0000 UTC]

This was an amazing event. You could see the smoke but the sent from the smoke was actually minimal.

I so wish I had a darkroom as I enjoyed the process from rolling my own film to processing it and developing the image. There is real satisfaction in doing it yourself.
