During the Third World War, trained guard bears proved to be an effective security measure. So much so that when the Soviet Union began to expand to other worlds they brought bears with them. Initially with the cover of conservation efforts in artificial habitats and latter with the justification that they would be used by custom authorities and Militsiya. This gave time to address the biggest complication for maintaining Warbears offworld, Ursine Spacesuits. Building a Spacesuit suitable for Eurasian Brown Bears was comparatively straightforward, training them to wear them and to operate in them was another matter. Never the less, after diligence and the mauling of several trainers, methods were devised which proved to be most effective. The addition of a helmet mounted camera and radio system for relaying instructions both helped. As unorthodox as it might be, space based warbears have proven surprisingly effective and the sight of 350 kilograms of armored bear bounding across the lunar regolith or martian dust has been the last thing that numerous allied spies have seen.
