Download please, it's pretty big.

Wheee I hate trying to touch up drawings that were taken by a digital camera. This particular piece of work is on an 18x24in pad so fitting it on the dinky little scanner would work.
Also I fixed it up in GIMP which lacks a heal brush so I couldn't get rid of traces of drawings on the next page or the random writing. Kind of looks a little cool though... right? >:

I'm particularly proud of the way everything came out... and this is probably my first artistic nude-ish drawing to date... it's also the first dragon I've drawn that looks like a dragon. XD

helped me tweak out my worst wekanesses... especially the feet.

I guess if you know how Raos is with his modesty and prude nature it's hard to really see why he lacks clothes.
...The best thing i could tell you is that it was supposed to be symbolic innocence or something... plus I just wanted to get that urge to draw him nekkid out of my system.
Even without clothes he can't be without a ring or two and an anklet. =A=;

Haha it doubles as a piece symbolistic for him but also fanservice for those who don't feel like catching the purity and beauty of the naked form. :B

Bodies are fuuuuuun stuff.

...I haven't been able to draw that same beautiful expression of melancholy since. :C

I love drawing those sad expressions! Except mine tend more toward blushing and crying than straight angst

Bodies are fun - I hate covering them up with clothes when they come out nice.

Then don't! That's what I do!
If the naked figure looks good just leave 'em naked! 8D

My suggestion for better angst expressions is to avoid making it look cute. You have to add a little bit of a cringe in there. When people cry they usually look pained. I know because when I get upset I go and stare at my soggy face in the mirror for reference. xDDD

Oh and the closer the eyebrows are to the eyes and the more drooped and slanted the shape of the eye is, the stronger the emotion you get. Adding little crease lines near clenched mouthes and lower eyelids helps with that pained look too. c:

yeah I tend to plus I really enjoy belly buttons

Donno, I think they're inherently cute (ukes ) and make them more so. I do use the lines between the brows at least. Definitely more pain would change the look.

I really like this. *snicker* when are the others going to be uploaded.

nice dragon. show me how you did a sharp face like that sometime. I've tried, but just can't figure it out.

It was basically a circle and triangle and then I used a bunch of rougher lines or something. It was a lot of guess work. :B

I don't know if I'm going to upload the others... for one, TK is watching and two I have no idea how I'll get them to fit on the scanner. I don't want them to be all grey and ugly from being photographed. XP

i still dont understand why he would take the time to find a ladder. by that point Kryppy would have grabbed him already.

Um... I think you short-circuited my brain with the sheer awesomeness of this piece.

It's not polished, of course, but it has an extremely strong meaning behind it as well as serious artistic thought.

I think in impact it has on me, its one of your best works.

All of your stuff is very pretty, but this is so much more than that. It cuts to the heart of Raos, where he is most vulnerable and also the most beautiful.

Uh, yeah. I think that says it. XD

Horray, long comment!
*soaks up praise like a sponge* >w< <3

Most bootiful when nekkid eh? *gigglesnort*
I'm sure he wouldn't be very thrilled to see me posting pictures of him like this on the interwebs... but that's the wonderful thing about fictional character hm?

Oh dear I hope I didn't blow up your brain too badly... D:

Gigglesnort indeed! XD

Naw, I'm good. XD Most of my brain dysfunctionality at the mo' is because I literally have one big project after the other right up until the last day of school. I actually choked on an English piece and asked to start over. D:

I never expected you to draw him naked but it looks really good

You draw dragons waaaaaaaay better than I can xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IndagoFeather In reply to kitsuneflamme [2008-05-20 04:40:18 +0000 UTC]

Pfft, this is the first dragon I've ever drawn that didn't look like a giant dog covered in snake scales and spikes. XP
Designing dragons is really hard. I can work with clothes but claws, spikes and structure are hard things to come up with. :B

And of course you knew I was going to try something like this eventually... maybe in the far future but I decided heck, I want to draw this so I will.

...and I did. XD
Raos is gonna keel me.

Ooooh, pretty~<3

I was shocked at first, seeing him naked and all. Not something I was expecting from ya xD It's really nice. The anatomy is great =]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IndagoFeather In reply to wolffeather [2008-05-18 04:45:23 +0000 UTC]

The anatomy is great thanks to a sudden epiphany of artistic talent that popped up one night and Calissa's extremely helpful and easy to understand critique. Great things happen when I ask for her help... which I should really ask for more. :/

Bah, I have no problem with drawing nudity, it's just hard for me to draw stuff like this because I'm afraid people will find it one day while looking through my sketchbooks (plus it's a bit tricky coming up with decent poses that can censor out *cough* things). I don't like to tear things out you know? :B

Hm yeah... one reason I have a hard time drawing the... lower exteriors is because I really don't spend much time staring at a guy's crotch and hips... even in drawn references. XDDD

atomic-monster [2008-05-17 16:58:18 +0000 UTC]

the pose and the nakedness make this really look like a fetal pose to me, which is kinda cool. goes with the theme of symbolic innocence, to be sure.
the color of the paper and the coarseness of the lines on the dragon seem to add to that too
really cool, good job!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IndagoFeather In reply to atomic-monster [2008-05-17 20:29:09 +0000 UTC]

all the more to add to the innocence of the drawing I guess. Though his expression is mostly melancholy and sleepy even he does seem to be posed in a way that makes him look like he feels vulnerable. I still really wish I could fix a lot of the mess that surrounds it but without Photoshop there's not much I can really do. :/

whatsaworld [2008-05-17 10:32:56 +0000 UTC]

wow yeah this drawing is really cool! I love the dragon!!! do you have something on the background? maybe you could make it darker? WOW!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IndagoFeather In reply to whatsaworld [2008-05-17 20:25:20 +0000 UTC]

I had to take a picture of the drawing because it was too big on the scanner. If I still had photoshop I'd be able to fix up a lot of the kinks but all I have now is GIMP and well... the best I could do was burn, dodge and mess around with the contrast and lighting for the whole picture. For now I'll just leave it as it is because eh... I can't really fix it very well now. : P

But yeah, thanks. :3
