Gender: Female
Age Appearance: 28
Independence age: 103
Age : 1000+
Birthday: November 28
Star Sign : Sagittarius
Height: 5’5 l 165 cm
Personality: A very proud Balkan nation, Luljeta is a very hard working girl and never likes to be disturbed until she gets all her work done. Because of her old age she is very wise and mature. Albania is very sociable and loves engaging in conversations. Usually she is a very calm person and is very silent. Albania has a short temper and she tries very hard to control it. When she gets angry she starts to yell and swear and can be very cruel to the person she is upset with. To calm herself she usually smokes and drinks coffee. She is very welcoming and hospitable just as long as you don’t get her upset. She loves to bake and will always offer some to anyone who comes over to her house, she feels insulted if you don’t accept. Due to her years of isolation she is behind the rest of Europe but is trying very hard and making a lot of progress! Albania hates to ask the other nations for help. She always attempts to do all the work herself but on some occasions she doesn't do well and has to resort to asking other nations for help. Albania rather enjoys traditional music more than any other kind of music. Speaking of music she also enjoys dancing and it doesn't matter what’s going on if there’s music on she will dance to it. Albania loves to tell stories about her past she would rather like you to hear it from her than to read it from a book. Albania hates to show emotion and she usually keeps them to herself. Albania has a horrible habit of gossiping, showing off, and comparing people to other people. most of the time she doesn't even know that she’s doing it which really upsets the person she is talking to. Albania is very outgoing and isn't afraid to speak to speak her mind which sometimes can get people to be upset with her. Albania always has her smile on her face and it’s always there for her friends and she is very welcoming to new ones. She is always trying to help anyone in need. Since Albania doesn't get many tourists whenever she see’s some she does not hesitate to go up to them introduce herself and show them around. Albania loves her culture and cuisine and gets very upset when someone tells her otherwise or pushes her down. once you push her down good luck trying to get her to be quiet because after you do that she will show off all of the great things she does have to offer and won’t stop. Albania does not like to show off so much skin so she wears very long dresses/ pants. Albania is a drinker. A very heavy one to be exact. She doesn't drink out in public because that is considered scandalous but when she’s at home she takes a large bottle of raki and doesn't hold back. in public she will be very quiet and expect the person she’s with to keep their voices down since being loud in public is considered scandalous ( unless its a party ). Albania isn't one to exercise and she isn't great at sports but She always in shape due to her strict cuisine. On that note Albania does not like junk food.
Overall Luljeta is a very cheerful and welcoming person who is serious when needed who tends to gossip a lot.
Appearance: Luljeta stands at an average height of 5’5 (and is possibly still growing due to the fact that Albanian woman are getting much taller now). She has long wavy dark brown hair that goes just above her waist. The two curls by her face are due to Italian influence. She has large dark brown eyes and olive tanned skin. She wears and extremely detailed dress that was hand made in the late 19 century. Albania likes to wear one of her 200 + traditional dresses than anything else. All are extremely decorated and some she handmade them. There are many jewelry that are included into the traditional dresses but she doesn't tend to wear them. the only exception is the "Evil Eye" bracelet which she wears because of Turkish influence and the fact that shes very superstitious the evil eye is her biggest fear. She started to wear more modern clothes but she doesn't feel comfortable wearing them so she just sticks with traditional clothing. Luljeta’s arms may look small and weak but she’s actually pretty strong (due to the fact her country is really good at weightlifting). She does walk a lot and very far distance because she doesn't like to drive so she has pretty toned legs.
Geography Overview: Albania is a country in southeastern Europe. It is bordered with Montenegro to the northwest, Kosovo to the northeast, Macedonia to the east, and Greece to the south. It has a coast of the Adriatic sea and it it less than 45 miles away form Italy.
Relations
Turkey
Turkey was the reason why Albania switched her religion from Christianity to Islam. At the beginning Albania was not fond of turkey and usually went against everything he said. She eventually gave in, staying with him the longest unlike the other countries. Turkey has been a great help to her, and always supporting her. Albania is great friends with Turkey even though from time to time they argue. They tend to have a love-hate relationship.
Italy’s
Italy is Albania’s most important trading partner, helping her the most economically wise. Both north and south Italy’s thoughts of her are both good and bad. This relationship is mostly one-sided but still very close. North Italy is more fond of her and is usually helping her. While South Italy isn't so fond of her due to Albanian immigrants going there illegally. But in recent years they have started to warm up to her more.
Greece
Greece dislikes Albania and wishes that she would go home. Albania and Greece can’t stay in room together for a long time without starting an argument. Usually to get her to leave Greece would say he would go to war because of “land issues”. This puts Albania in a difficult state and gets her really worried. Recently Greece and Albania have started to get a better relationship.
Serbia
Albania and Serbia are not on good terms. Serbia hates Albania and Albania hates Serbia. The main reason of why they aren't on good terms is how Serbia mistreated her and her country so horribly.
Kosovo
Albania sees Kosovo has her younger sibling. She was one of the first to support Kosovo’s independence. Albania is always trying to support Kosovo in every way and Kosovo depends on Albania.
America
They are both really good friends. Albania is very fond of him while he almost feels the same way. Whenever America takes action Albania is always there to support him. Although there was a time when she wasn't as fond of him as she was before. She hates that fact that he always eats junk food and she tries to cook healthier meals for him but he still prefers his burgers over her cooking.
Canada
They have really great relations. Albania can understand how Canada feels since she is the most forgotten country in all of Europe. They both support each other land and economically wise. She is fond of him and enjoys his company.
China
While China was in a huge argument with Russia, Albania supported China all the way through. Because of this Albania lost all trades with Russia who was her greatest support in the Socialist Republic regime. China came in and gave her even more than what Russia was. even though the supplies China had given were not as great as Russia’s. During that time China thought of Albania as his most trusting and loyalist ally. To this day they still have great relations.
Russia
Albania wishes to regain relations with him. She fears that their relations will not improve due to the fact that Russia has supported Serbia in numerous ways. Slowly its getting better. But Russia refuses to see or talk to her.
Netherlands
their relationships is very good. Netherlands has helped Albania many times government wise. Albania enjoys his company and he is always teaching Albania new things.
Denmark
after the fall of communist Albania, Denmark helped build institutions and aid the poor parts of Albania. Both Denmark and Albania work together to try to help and support Kosovo in anyway that they can. Denmark to this day is still supporting Albania. Their relations have certainly gotten stronger.
Israel
Israel and Albania are really close even to this day. Albania was a big help to Israel during WW2. Albania protected all of their Jewish population (from Albania and neighboring countries) by giving all of them forged documents and even had albanian family take them into their homes. Israel was very grateful for what Albania did and returned the favor by taking in Albanian and Kosovar refuges during the Kosovo war and providing hem with medical care, food and accommodation.
Croatia
Croatia and Albania are actually the best of friends and enjoy to spend time together. They both hang out a lot and play music and drink together. They even have build a nuclear power plant on the border of Albania and Montenegro . Montenegro agreed but is still very worried about what it would do to the environment.
Holy See
Albania and Holy See have fairly good relations. When the pope visited Albania on September 21 2014 she was very grateful because his visit gave Albania more attention and showed that she isn't as bad as everyone thinks she is.
Romania
Romania was on of the first nations to recognize Albania’s independence from the Ottoman Empire. Relations between them were established on December 16, 1913. It is estimated that there are 10,000 people of Albanian origin living in Romania. An unknown number of the people living in Albania have Romanian origin. Many Albanians including very influential ones important to Albania and Romania's History study in Romania and There are a large number of Albania police officers that get trained in Romania. They have signed a treaty of friendship and on December 16, 2013, a celebration was held in Romania celebrating the 100 year anniversary between the two nations!

History
Note: The history is very long so I did my best to shorten it.
The iron age people of Albania are called the Illyrians. The Illyrians eventually came into conflict with Rome and the Romans conquered them in 167 BC.
Under Roman rule Albania prospered. The Romans built roads in the area and towns like Elbasani grew up. However in 395 the Roman Empire split into two parts, East and West. Albania became part of the Eastern Empire, which is known to us as the Byzantine Empire.
During the 4th, 5th and 6th centuries Germanic peoples invaded Albania several times but they always withdrew. Between the invasions life went on as normal.
Yet because of its position on the edge of the Byzantine Empire Albania was weakly defended. In the 10th century the Bulgarians conquered large parts of Albania. However the Byzantines recovered their territory in the early 11th century when they were led by emperor Basil II.
However in the 11th century the Normans captured Sicily and southern Italy and they turned their attention to Albania. They landed on the coast in 1081 and they captured Durres but the Byzantines took it back in 1083 with help from Venice.
In 1204 the Crusaders captured Constantinople. For a time Albania was freed from Byzantine control and it was up for grabs. There followed a period of warfare with different powers fighting to control of Albania. Venice first seized central and southern Albania but they only directly ruled the main ports. After 1210 a Greek Vassal called Michael Commenus ruled the hinterland. However in 1215 Michael turned on the Venetians and he formed the despotate of Epirus.
Then in the late 13th century the Byzantines struggled with the kingdom of southern Italy and Sicily for control of Albania. The Byzantines eventually drove the Italians out but in the 14th century Albania fell to the Serbs.
The Serbian king Stefan Dusan first invaded Albania in 1343. However after his death in 1355 the Serbs lost control of Albania and the feudal lords fought among themselves for control. However there was a new threat to Albania - the Ottoman Turks.
The Turks occupied southern and central Albania in the years 1415-1423. However in 1443 a rebellion broke out. It was led by George Kastrioti (1403-1468). Under him and his son the Albanians in the north continued to resist the Turks until 1479.
Under Turkish rule some Albanians converted to Islam although Christians were allowed to practice their religion. Generally Turkish rule brought stability to Albania. However in the late 19th century a strong independence movement grew up in Albania.
The nationalist movement promoted Albanian language and culture. Then in 1912 war broke out between the Turks and the Balkan League (Montenegro, Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria). By 1912 the Turkish Empire was in steep decline and Albanians were afraid their country would be divided up between members of the Balkan League. To prevent that happening Albanian leaders met in Vlora and on 28 November 1912 they declared independence.
On 20 December 1912 the European great powers Britain, France, Germany, Austria and Russia recognized Albanian independence. In 1913 they appointed a commission to demarcate Albania’s borders. However they refused to recognize the provisional government in Albania. Instead they made a German prince, William of Wied king of Albania. William arrived in Albania in March 1914. However he fled after only six months in September 1914. Albania then split into regions without any central government.
However in 1918 the Albanians formed a provisional government. Elections were held and a parliament sat in Tirana in 1920. The Albanian Interior Minister was Ahmed Zogu (1895-1961). In December 1922 he became Albanian premier. However Zogu lost the election in January 1924 and he fled abroad in June 1924. Yet in December 1924 with Yugoslav help he marched on Tirana and overthrew the government. Zogu quickly made himself dictator. In 1928 he made himself King Zog of Albania.
However Italian influence increased in Albania under Zog’s rule. Finally on 7 April 1939 Mussolini, the Italian dictator invaded Albania. Zog fled abroad.Mussolini installed a puppet government and after Germany conquered Yugoslavia and Greece in 1941 some their territory was given to Albania. Yet in November 1941 a Communist Party was formed with Enver Hoxha (1908-1985) as its secretary. From the summer of 1942 the Communists fought the Italians but when Italy surrendered in 1943 the Germans stepped in and occupied Albania. Yet the Communists formed a provisional government in May 1944. In October 1944 the Germans began to withdraw from Albania. Finally on 28 November 1944 the Communists entered Tirana. They then imposed a totalitarian regime in Albania.
The Communists began to nationalise industry in Albania and at first relations with Yugoslavia were friendly. However in 1948 Yugoslavia isolated itself from the Soviet Union and the other Eastern European Communist countries. Albania promptly ended economic agreements with Yugoslavia and in 1950 they broke off diplomatic relations (they were restored in 1953).
Then in the late 1950s relations between the Soviet Union and China grew worse. Albania sided with China and in the late 1950s the Chinese increased their economic aid to Albania. Finally in 1961 Albania broke off diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union.
After Mao died in 1976 relations between Albania and China cooled and ordinary people were completely isolated from the rest of the world. Enver Hoxha died in 1985 but the tyrannical regime in Albania continued.
Meanwhile Enver Hoxha was, like all Marxists an atheist. In 1967 he declared that Albania was the atheistic state in the world. Hoxha did all he could to eradicate religion from Albania. All religious buildings were closed and all worship was banned.
In 1990 the Albanian leader Ramiz Alia introduced some minor reforms. However in December 1990 student demonstrations forced the government to allow other political parties to form in Albania. Elections were held on 31 March 1991. The Communists won but a general strike in June forced them to resign. A coalition then ruled Albania until new elections were held in March 1992 and the Communist Party was forced to re-invented itself as the Socialist Party.
Meanwhile religious freedom was introduced in Albania in 1990. Today the majority of Albanians are Muslims. Significant minorities are Orthodox or Catholic.
In 1995 and 1996 pyramid investment schemes sprang up in Albania but at the end of 1996 they began to collapse. The result was unrest in Albania which forced the government to hold new elections in June 1997.
Gradually stability returned to Albania. However since 1998 the Albanian economy has grown although Albania remains a poor country. Today the government is trying to improve infrastructure in Albania. Meanwhile in 2009 Albania joined NATO. Today the population of Albania is 3 million.
