I think you've done fantastically. Tell me, can you be comissioned? I imagine I've never had any luck when finding someone. Besides, at this point I'm just starting to think that it's rude of me to ask.

Great work! Love the "cloak of feathers" as well as the sword, which of course SHOULD be celtic and not some kind of gothic-style rapier-crap or something that you see around... excuse my language!^^ I just feel very strongly about this topic and you may very well be the first I have encountered so far who has depicted Excalibur or Caladfulch (as it is called in Welsh) in a way that fits.

...Whoa. It looks like it could be out of some ancient storybook or something.
Also, that is one attractive Merlin.

Again, WOW. You smite my artistic ability with all you do. I love how you took the concept that Merlin was a little........ eccentric and took it to such degree, although they owl coat does have a certain charming Avant-garde.

Actually, one of the Merlin's on whom Geoffry on Monmouth based his character was a prophet who wandered about the countryside and whom many considered to be certifiable. The coat is more technically called a tugen, and was apparently worn by druids in ancient Britain. The indigo dye was also apparently something with which Celts painted themselves. While it's possibly just a myth, it was spoken of in various Roman reports.

You might like T. A. Baron's books, i still need to read they Merlin trilogy, read Avalon and the lost years.

Unfortunately, I'm an extremely picky reader (I suppose that's what happens when the first fantasy books you get your hands on are The Lord of the Rings). I read an excerpt of the T.A Baron books - his writing didn't grab me.
Anyway,I highly recommend the Mary Stewart books. They're beautifully written and VERY thoroughly researched. However, if by 'Avalon' you mean The Mists of Avalon, I advise you to approach with caution. It's very, very dark and very sad.

Thank you for they advice, well, Baron's books are generally juvenile bound (probably why I read them, 16 is still juvenile right?) and Avalon is the title of one of his series. Ohhh, I need to read Lord of the Rings! thanks for reminding me. And I do agree, Barons writing isn't that......... remarkable, the creativity of his stories is what grabbed me.

Lord of the Rings is something you might not like if you haven't grown up reading it - Tolkien was a real lover of words and put in a ton of flowery description that you may find boring. Personally, I adore slow paced books that give you time to really know the scenery and characters and are lousy with lovely prose, but I know that a lot of people get frusterated with that kind of thing.

I agree with you completely, books need to give you time to feel like you know the character, like you've seen them since you were little and have grown up with them, after all, you need to understand a character to be friends with them. It's sad, most of my friends are only alive in pages, and my head, but I think people call that insanity. And wow, all this from Merlin, I think i broke topic, just a little though.
Well, since I'm of topic i might as well take advantage of it, when ever you read a good book, give me a tip. Oh, and again, if looks could kill, your gallery would have my heart stopped in an instant. I can't wait to see what happens when you become an infamous artist.

I like how this has an art nouveau touch to it. Very nice. Have you read The Hollow Hills series by Mary Stewart? Because this is how I see Merlin. I love it.

You don't know how funny it is that you mention Mary Stewart's Merlin books.
First of all, yes, I have read them, and I adore them. They're up there with Narnia, Lord of the Rings, and the original three Earthsea books in my opinion. Second, yes, he is based on her vision of Merlin (although he's also based on the gorgeous Cillian Murphy as Scarecrow in Batman Begins). Third, I just started re-reading The Crystal Cave this morning after - gosh, seven years, maybe?
Anyway, nice to meet a fellow fan, and I'm glad you like this! I'm planning on a bit of a re-do, cleaning it up to make it available as a print. I hope you like the edits as well if you happen to see them!

I'm so thrilled that you mentioned Earthsea.
No one has read them, at least where I live.
Cillian Murphy = positively beautiful.
