wow! Very nice piece of art.
How the moon's light and the stars and clouds are creeping out of the shadow at the bottom of the picture is just amazing. The branches of the tree really look creepy and I am fascinated by the realistic looking sky.
The fact that Zim and GIR are so small just supports the impressive nature of the dark trees. And it makes them look absolutely lost, which is true somehow. If they had been bigger, the purple of the space cruiser might have disturbed the atmosphere. Now it just creates a nice contrast to the colorless surrounding area and a certain tension.
Very impressive!

It is great! One of the best IZ-fanworks I have seen so far; really!
I do not think itΒ΄s a shame the characters appear so small; having such a huge horizon gives the picture itΒ΄s impressiveness and shows...how alone Zim is on this planet, somehow.
The Cruisers shading and how Gir glows is wonderful...
My respect for this piece of art!

Heh, I am glad I could help you whith naming your impression^^
ItΒ΄s only sad there is a watermark on it...
I love the clouds, you know? I once had the task to draw them in school and now I feel high esteem for those who are able to create something like this. They look so soft...
Oh, thanks a lot^^ Sometimes I think it is not good because the people on DA I communicate a lot with are called Irken-Defective and DefectiveFal, with my name DeviantIrk we mix things up a lot^^

Yes, this is really sad. Some "artists" seem to have no pride. If I was really, really bad at drawing, I would ask the artists I like for help and practise until I become better, because I know the good artists had to practise, too. But just stealing and claiming foreign artwork to be your own...tss...
Ah, I heard about brushes, but I never used them myself, since I donΒ΄t have PS and do not want to get it illegally...
I would have chosen InvaderGrace first, but there already is someone with this name, so...

Yeah, seriously. It's so low and you know the people that do it are just immature and "deprived for attention."
And for that very reason that you just said I love to help others, because I really appreciate it when others help me. One time I actually helped someone on an okay drawing so well the next drawing they did was about five times better than any of my stuff. I could tell the person had amazing potential, and with just a little nudge they could be really great.
Haha. Yeah. They're useful, but a lot of people use them poorly. I have a hard time when you can tell what's brushes and what's not by the quality of the art. To use brushes well you have to make it blend perfectly with what you're doing, otherwise it looks poor.
I don't blame you. I got mine for a birthday gift a few years back. If you're a student you can get a discount on it. I use Elements 5, which is less expensive. I used it for years without complaint, but now that I've been working with CS4 at school I'm getting spoiled and am tempted to get the expensive version. So if you're thinking about getting PS, I suggest one of the Elements versions. It's a good version to learn on and you aren't investing so much in it.
Also, if you do get a chance to use it (be it on a friend's computer or when you get your own) I highly suggest looking up drawing tutorials. I have some basic ones on my other account, and there are plenty of others here on dA. However, you'll want the tutorials specifically for drawing, not effects. Most tutorials show you how to get something very specific (like wood-grain or lightning) by using filters. And while those are fun, they're not nearly as useful or informative.
See if you can find a free demo-version online that you can try out. I don't know if Adobe offers them, but they're handy for figuring out if you want the program. Most demos don't let you save or anything, but it's better than nothing.

Giving and receiving useful feedback is a great thing! I helps to improve. I donΒ΄t know whether this saying exist in the English language, too, but I find it very true, simple yet true: Four eyes see more than two. Other people have another way of looking at the pictures, so they may see mistakes or details in the picture you havenΒ΄t recognised before.
At the moment I started doing traditional art again (itΒ΄s years ago I did that regularly and itΒ΄s great, especially in school lessons in which attendance is so high the teacher tries to ask mainly other people - which can become boring, so I am productive in several ways which is more satisfying.
I will start working with PS later, maybe, I already have a quite good freeware painting-program which is enough for my current needs, but thank you for your advice!

My mother tongue is German (since I live in Germany^^) I have been learning English for...eight years now. I also learned some Latin and Chinese, but I am not really capable of these languages. You could listen to m voice meme, if you want^^
Up to now I have difficulties with drawing a lot, because I feel like I need a good idea to be able to draw, which is not always the case.
But after these meermaid-creatures which I drew very spontanously I suppose I will get away from this problem, too...

DeviantIrk In reply to InvaderMax [2009-12-08 16:39:59 +0000 UTC]
Really? Oh, thatΒ΄s great^^
Well, if you start to learn German, I could help you by having some German conversation with you and correcting you, if you want!^^
This would be very useful, because my use of language became SO MUCH fluent since I am on DA regularly!
Mh...I donΒ΄t find it bad. As you may have seen; even fanarts have to have a meaning. As long as I donΒ΄t stop drawing at all, itΒ΄s even better to post not so many, but good artworks. Everybody deals with it differently...

If you correct me when I make mistakes, too, it would be a good deal though^^
DonΒ΄t be afraid of saying something wrong; itΒ΄s better to say something, being corrected and learning than keep silence.
Just a side note...which time is it where you live right now? ItΒ΄s 20:20 here. Quite late; the day was over very fast today...

Certainly. I have poor spelling, but great grammar and punctuation, so hopefully I'll be helpful in those areas. If I ever see any mistakes I'll be sure to let you know.
The only thing I've noticed thus far is sometimes when you have apostrophes you put a space before or after it (like instead of writing won't you'll write won' t, which might be caused by your computer). You didn't do it in this message, but it looks like that's because you copied the text from a program (like MS Word or something). You can tell because they have an angle, unlike the ones made here on DA which are straight up and down.
To be honest you have much better grammar than some of my online friends who speak only English. I suspect it's because they learned to speak without really learning to write, so when they write they type what sounds right instead of what's correct. Lots of English-speakers don't know the difference between then/than or its/it's and things like that. I even have one friend who uses an apostrophe for making a word plural and not for possession instead of the other way around (for example, he might write "I see Freds cat's").
So basically you're better at English than a lot of Americans your age. It's sad, but very amusing.
Oh, and if you ever need me to explain a word or saying please ask. I imagine figures of speech are some of the hardest things to get the hang of in a new language.
Time? Let's see... you sent your message about six and a half hours ago. It's about 5:50pm now (17:50), so that means you sent your message at about 11:20am (unless my math is totally off, which is more often the case than not lol). So that's a nine-hour difference.

Actually I did not know you have put a space there...thanks!
Well, in chatrooms you also see horrible versions of german...you canΒ΄ t even say language...it causes gooseflesh while reading it!
They donΒ΄ t know the difference between then and than? Oh. ThatΒ΄ s...poor. And I thought people in my A-level-course make horrible mistakes. Okay, forgetting the first-person-singular-s after eight ears of learning English IS a horrible mistake!
I feel some kind of flattered now!^^
11:20 am? This canΒ΄ t be, because I usually am in school then^^
LetΒ΄ s see...where exactly do you live? I could have a look on my globe...

InvaderMax In reply to DeviantIrk [2009-12-09 21:37:20 +0000 UTC]
Oh, you seem to have misunderstood me. You've been putting spaces between the apostrophe and the rest of the word. It's improper to do so. You probably weren't doing it on purpose originally and that's what got you mixed up with my comment. lol. So yeah, there's no space when you have an apostrophe. Just look at the contractions in this paragraph for examples.
haha! I know exactly what you mean! The internet is a spawning ground for lazy writing. It makes the writer in me cringe.
I live in California. The time should be listed under the city of San Fransisco. It's the Pacific time zone, which is -8. If I'm not mistaken you're in +1.
