While it's certainly nowhere near as strong as the OTL U.S., in terms of economic size and I suppose military strength it would be ahead of ATL Canada, Centroamerica and probably be close to parity with the FNA and Mexico (which ITTL has done much better).

In terms of influence it'd probably be similar to the OTL United Kingdom, economically it'd be as well off as Germany (though with a somewhat larger economy than said).

Quebec should be his own country and not be in canada

Why should it be its own nation?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

blackdragons6 In reply to chaosbob34 [2015-01-12 05:44:53 +0000 UTC]

Because it has it's own cultur and doesn't speak english like the rest of Canada, but fench and there is alot of people in Quebec today who want to see Quebec free from Canada (that include me) and Quebec might not be a country but it's a nation because to be concider a nation you need to be alot of people living on the same territory who have a different cultur than the other nations around it, also Quebec has a flag (just to mention it). And that is why Quebec should be a country.

Nice map.
I'm not a native French speaker but I think it should "Le Nouveau Paris" instead of "Nouvelle Paris".
It would be interesting to ponder which of these countries would be more powerful.
The US would have more industry and workforce because it started developing earlier, while the French country would be very rich in resources. But I think it might have a demographic problem. In the real world France only managed to implant a lot of its people in Algeria but even there they weren't the majority. They wouldn't have enough for such a large country.

The FRNA is indeed not just French, though a good deal of French people did immigrate their over the years, overall it's about 50% French, 30% Metis, 15% Other European and 5% 'pure' Amerindian.

In terms of power Canada is somewhat more powerful and populace then OTL (having Wester Washington and Alaska) and FRNA, U.S. and Mexico are analogous to OTL Germany, Italy and Spain in terms of comparisons to each other.

So, in this alternate time line did the American Civil War happen or no? If so, I assume West Virginia did not form from it. I only ask because I'm from there. :-P

To be honest I never even thought about that, my focus was on the French state primarily.

Actually, thinking about it it is a good question, on the one hand without further expanion it would alter demographics in the East, so I could see it either happening or America going the way of Brazil and abolishing it slowly, with it eventually fully ending by the late 19th century.

It looks more like Napoleon moved to Louisiana than selling it.

He did neither actually, rather he kept Louisiana as a Colony and ten him and leaders after him invested int it and encouraged immigration and stuff.

Still, is this Louisiane independent of France?

Iori-Komei In reply to mdc01957 [2011-08-02 01:02:15 +0000 UTC]

It is, yes.

It's relations with France sort of like OTL relations of Canada and Briatin, except it's a Republic.

In the case of Connecticut, basically just alternate abreviations.

As for Colima and Comanché, well just because really, they're both listed under their respective nations and easily noticable as seperate, so I did'nt think their was an issue with doing it.

Why is Connecticut CN and not CT?

Also, why are Colima and Comanché both CM?
