Anubis or Anpu is a god associated with afterlife in ancient Egyptian religion, usually depicted as a man with a canine head. Like many ancient Egyptian deities, Anubis assumed different roles in various contexts.
Depicted as a protector of graves as early as the First Dynasty, Anubis was also an embalmer. By the Middle Kingdom he was replaced by Osiris in his role as lord of the underworld.
Usually, if I draw mythological characters, I try to depict them as close as possible to their classical image. But Anubis was a real test for me, I changed three different versions and eventually I came to his Victorian look

Well that’s a religious figure I don’t hear mentioned very often. Personally, I’m writing a fantasy where he’s the god of celebrations and the peaceful dead.

Played D&D this weekend with Egyptian mythology and my sister managed to seduce Anubis.
We now have an armoy of mummys at our disposal but only if our leader gets to roll a D20.

How long does it usually take for you to make something like this?
Your style is so discrete yet detailed enough to convey a lot of information.
My only criticism would be with the weight distribution. Though I see that you counter the forward position of the waist by moving the shoulders back it still looks like he is about to fall forward.
If the cane was slanted in the opposite direction it would look like he was leaning against it, which is what I would do if I were to counter this effect..
Do you agree with this analysis? I am trying to train my critical eye so I can see the flaws in my own work better. As I am a beginner I am still honing on the basics.
I know criticizing art can be a delicate affair, so please know that I mean no disrespect. The last this I want is to offend someone of such talent.
