Anubis is an ancient Egyptian god associated with mummification and the afterlife, usually depicted as a canine. (More on Wiki )

First of a new set of designs for a project of mine. One of the depictions I saw the most when I started looking for references was the little black statues/figures with the gold band around the neck, which is what I kept as the theme for the whole suit.

Before I started the illustration that lead me to making this reference sheet (back in May 2018) I had NO idea that Anubis in a suit was a thing. It is.
Speaking of which, may I direct your attention to this beautiful Victorian design by IrenHorrors ? Please go, it's gorgeous.

Death has always been a big and important part of my life, and I don't mean that in an edgy/cool/attempting-to-seem-interesting way, but in a "my dad's a pathologist" way, which made the topic something normal that we could discuss freely in the house. Anubis was the first deity I got to learn about that was directly related to death. He's been a constant in my work throughout the years and hence the starting point of this new project. You'll be seeing more of him in the near future.

This is not about Egypt and it's not about deities. More soon~
