Description
The original sketch for this was drawn in straight ballpoint pen over the course of two days in my cubicle, during that phone-answering job of mine that generated so many good sketches. [Kings of Spades and Clubs is another from that period, as is DUG HAUT and a few others up here.] It started as a study of Lina's armor from the first novels [and movies and such], plus an experiment with her pose...and then I realized that Xelloss was there, too. I wanted to capture the shy moment before a kiss here. Xelloss gave me a lot of difficulty - I had to redraw his face completely in the CG version, as well as adjust the shape/size of his head a LOT...in the end, the perspective may save me, since he is behind, and thus slightly smaller. Also, I usually imagine Xelloss with a slightly smallish build. Anyways, I did all I could with what I had - working it over any more would crack the structure of the original drawing. I'd like to request no constructive criticism on that particular aspect of this drawing, since it won't really help me. Anything else you can feel free to take a crack at, though.

Colored in Painter with watercolors as base, airbrush on top, plus a lot of sable brush in Xel's hair. I tinted the entire thing yellow to start with since I find starting with a base tint really helps make the colors richer, and tie the drawing together.

Xel/lina is my favorite Slayers pair forevah. I like others, but this will always be the tops for me. Considering that, I don't draw it enough! nn;
