I'm all aboard the Fallout 4 hype train - the game announcement actually inspired me to go back to Fallout 3 (plus, I managed to grab New Vegas from Steam's summer sale, yay). So, I re-rolled my Lone Wanderer, and I've been exploring the Wasteland for past couple of weeks whenever I've had time. Obviously, this has lead me to draw stuff...

I loved Fallout 3, and Dogmeat was my favorite companion, except for when he would occasionally disappear for a week in game time and a day in real time. I'd get so scared when I couldn't find one of my companions.

I'm actually pretty Hyped about Fallout 4 as well.. The building and modding and building your own armor sound sooo sweet
I've played Fallout 1 and 2 when they came out.. And ofcourse had Fallout 3 for PC as well as for the Xbox (cus my PC version always crashed) and had New Vegas as well.. Though sold the Xbox so don't have either no more.
Anyway, I'll pick up Fallout 4 for the PS4 I fear

Question, is dogmeat essential in the sense of NPCs being unable to fall to zero health?

No, he can die - although if you have Broken Steel DLC he gets pretty huge health bar quite fast, so it's relatively easy to keep him alive.

Thanks. I am trying to figure out if the dog in Fallout 4 will be essential. I don't want to take that dog anywhere near anything in the Wastelands if he can die.

Yeah, I'm an aggressive quick saver - always making sure there's a recent save game to go back to if my followers somehow manage to get themselves killed...

I quicksave often as well, but for a different reason. My Skyrim is heavily modded, and does all matter of awful things like spontaneous crashing to outright black-screening my PC and forcing me to do a manual restart, i.e. turning off and on with the actual button. I hope Bethesda does a better job rooting out and fixing glitches for Fallout Four then they did with Skyrim.
I also hope they re-use whatever engine this is for the next Elder Scrolls game.

Aaah, FO4 looks so cool! I can't wait to have a fully voiced player character. 8D FO3 had some serious dialogue gems - would've paid many caps to hear an actor say that stuff, lol.

Yeah... Deathclaws... Those things are a pain to kill... I'd probably need some power armour, but that will probably take me 510 years to even get enough money for one!
Yeah, I can't wait to play some Fallout 4. The speaking protagonist sounds nice, but I'm most excited for the town building and the weapon customization... Now I can hopefully build that "Deathclaw Hunter Plasma Rifle" I was dreaming about!

I thought about re-playing FO3 but apparently it has issues with Windows 8 so I'm stuck just playing FONV again. Not that this is a bad thing.
Can't wait to see your FO4 fan art ... but I will wait ... since my time machine is still in the shop and I can't pick it up until yesterday ...

Yeah, I noticed - I'm a Win 8 user, too, and the game basically crashed every time the was a fight and I tried to enter or exit V.A.T.S.
