since you've done lovecraft art what do you think Gabriels chances are if he meets an Old One?,If god angels and lovecraftian horrors existed in the same universe how would a meeting like that go?

He has some brilliant moments in The Prohecy where his voice fluctuates from quite whispers to dooming bass.
Gawd I love his voice when he delivers this line: "I'm an angel. I kill firstborns while their mamas watch. I turn cities into salt. I even, when I feel like it, rip the souls from little girls, and from now till kingdom come, the only thing you can count on in your existence is never understanding why."

You did very well doing a portrait of Christopher Walken. Sometimes when people do portraits of actors/actresses they don't look like them.

Good work! Chris Walken was so good as Gabriel. Especially when he said "Shh" and turned into birds. It was so cool.

that SO is one of my favorite movies.
i recognized c. walken as gabriel from the thumb so good job on that, although i think he does look a tad different.
i really like the brushes you used to create textures. it doesn't look like a still from the movie but it's obviously a painting.

Very lovely color choice. It fits the mood of the piece perfectly. Also, the shading and lighting is wonderful. <33 It is a very beautiful piece.

This is a crit from
Again a really really good painting. It definitely has that creepy Walken look. I like the interesting facial expression and how you drew the outlines of the character sharper than in the Leto portrait. The pose is probably the best I've seen from you so far.
It's a good composition. The statue and the hands of Walken concentrate the gaze of the viewer nicely on his face, but unfortunately make the picture a bit top-heavy. I believe the angel statue is pointing her sword downright so that the gaze would naturally visit the lower half, but for me at least the knee of Walken is so dominating form that it tends to create a border preventing an easy access there and thus makes the lower half almost a whole of it's own. As I said, it's a good composition but at least to my eyes the lower and upper half could work better together. Maybe some rays of moonlight coming from upright and shining behind Walken and in front of the statue to downleft direction (7.00-8.00 o'clock) would have helped joining the halves? That's all I can think of which wouldn't screw the picture (or maybe it would make the pic even more top heavy?), because there are already some very strong forms in the background and a clear setting.
The colors are excellent, muted but nicely nuanced at the same time. The lighting/shading works very well with them, creating great atmoshpere. Some areas like the tip of shoulder appear as slightly plasticy because of the lighting though. A breathing material like the suit fabric is full of holes, which is why it doesn't usually catch intense light easily. Maybe some darkening would have helped so that it wouldn't look too shiny compared to the character's skin? I think here's a good reference photo for comparing skin and suit lighting: [link]
...and that's pretty much all I can think of. Keep up the good work!

Just a question: How does the type of light affect how the skin will turn out?
What I mean is, how on his face and such, the light color is white/a very light blue.
Would the color of the skin make a difference in how the light is relected on the skin?

Ito-Saith-Webb In reply to yeahgirl11 [2009-01-09 02:42:10 +0000 UTC]
A little bit it depends on how reflective the skin is, what color the skin is and the strength of the light source.

Thanks for the Critique, I agree with the stone surfaces I think I was just burnt out by the point. With his feet well they had their feet like that in the movies which I thought was cool because they looked like they would fall but they never did.
