i was like ohmigawd how unbearable.

ΒΏAnd what If I'm skinny? Skinny people also exist, you know...? It's no THAT bad...
π: 0 β©: 1
itsLanique In reply to MartaValentin [2011-05-30 14:42:05 +0000 UTC]
I'm skinny myself c: This isn't against skinny people but unrealistically skinny proportions (waists too skinny to fit any organs in it, legs so thin they could be arms, etc.)
π: 0 β©: 1
MartaValentin In reply to itsLanique [2011-05-30 22:32:45 +0000 UTC]
Well, Tim Burton's style is unrealistic, as many other styles... I don't think it's a bad thing as long as its your own style.

itsLanique In reply to MartaValentin [2011-05-30 22:36:34 +0000 UTC]
well this tutorial is on realistic proportion obviously c:
most people who draw skinny anime girls think that they draw realistic proportions, this isn't about extreme art styles

MartaValentin In reply to itsLanique [2011-05-31 20:17:14 +0000 UTC]
People who draw anime girls know that drawn anime proportions. I don't really get why you despise anime when you started drawing with that style... O_o

Lovely guide.
I can never draw proportionate people. EVER! >__<
Sometimes I think I should just quit, but then I would be a lame quitter! .___.
Anyway, I love the way your lips, could you perhaps help a beginner out and tell me some good tips on how to draw proportionate luscious lips?
(and yes, way to much anime on Basil, and it ALWAYS gets front paged!)

itsLanique In reply to EverLivingSoul [2011-01-26 19:16:04 +0000 UTC]
Thanks (:
Don't give up! Haha, I gave up on art like a million times, but I kept crawling back eventually, you just have to keep going and keep practicing.
I think a good tip for drawing lips is when you do the lineart/sketching only hint at the lips, draw the line seperating the lips and then hint at where the top lip ends and where the bottom lip throws a shadow, because if you line the whole lips they tend to look really awkward. As for finding the right shape it's just best to practice with reference, looking at your own lips, etc. (:

I...I can't help it, My charries are a very strange mix of real and anorexic....Mine could survive in teh live, but...omg pointy chin, so very much, and the very skinny, maney 5, 6 or even 7 head legs T^T
I actually know everything you've written here, but I need it present when I draw XD Its so easy to do skinnyness, lol. *gonna print thins out onto paper and stick in draw bookies*

Tip:
Flip your canvas horizontally, if you're using a digital imaging program.
If you're drawing on traditional pen/pencil, place your drawing in front of a mirror.
You'll never believe how many errors you'll see.
The body should look natural when flipped from side to side, if you drew it proportionately.

This is nice and helpful but i dun really follow too strict proportional guidelines
most girls don't really have wide hips anyway :\
they aren't dramatically " V " shaped but somewhere between " V" and "hourglass" ._.
yeah
the thighs are a bit skinny but awfully good for a guide ._.

everyone has their own styles. you have found yours, and are in denial of it and thus feel it is inadequate. that cannot be any farther from actuality. just work on "improving" your works, not the styles.
and OT, this was indubitably an immense help.
