the Baldr-class escourtstar. been working on this for a while. basicly, i was drooling over my Galileo, and came toi the conclusion that i was in love with the top part of the 'jaw'. i took it, and made it into a whole other ship.

Story:
designed alongide the Galileo, and launched 7 months after the galileo, the Baldr-class escourtstar is designed to feed the galileo's, as well as form a protective escourt. carrying a decent amount of vipers, as well as a substantial amount of guns, the Baldr can take on most medium sized cylon cruisers. the Baldr was the Galileo's deep space suply vehical. when the galileo needed suplies, the galileo would jump to the nearest starbase or checkpoint, and take on stores. it would return to the galileo, and also could render assistance during battle.
at the battle of sector Alpha 5, the Baldr went in alongside the Galileo, and was heavely damaged. the galiloe managed to protect it and win the battle almost singlehandedly. aftyer that, the galileo,the Baldr and three frigates, the Gefjun, Forseti and Astrild, were pushed into more and more battles. the small battegroup suffered heavy casualties, and 8 months alter the Astrild and Gefjun had been destroyed, as well as the Baldr being brutaly savaged. the galileo took the brunt of the damage, but shrugged msot of it off easely.
later, in the battle of Gehenna, the fleet was attacking a cylon resupply station. the information had been leaked to the cylons, and jsut as they jumped in, they were met with 4 basestars,3 missilestars and a heavy basestar. the Galileo took on the heavy basestar and another basestar, while the Baldr engaged a missilestar. the four frigates that had joined them set up a flak feild, but cylon raiders continuously attacked them. eventualy the Baldr's vipers were ordered to protect the frigates, but without the covering fire, the Baldr was attacked brutaly. the Galileo fired a nuke at the missilestar, and this cuased the missilestar to detonate, but debris hit the Baldr, opening a breach in her hull. after that the Missilestars attacked her brutaly. the heavy basestar moved onto the frigates, decemating them, while galileo tried to help the Baldr after finishing off one basestar. it fired off two more nukes, the last of its compliment against the basestars, but the Baldr was destroyed. the galileo was forced to retreat, but not after launching a volley of conventional missiles at the supply station. the high amounts of tylium inside, and the close range of it to the cylons was parfect. the volley went off, adn the cylons missed it, preocupied by the baldr. the cyons were obliterated as the galileo jumped out. the heavy basestar is thought to have survived, because a ship of similar description was seen in three more battles.
two more ships of the Baldr-class were comissioned, one serving with the galileo, and the other with her sistership.
