Description The story of this little statue is simple -
I was visiting my friend. His 5 year old son had some DAS clay, they had made several mushrooms and creatures from it. He asked me that I'd make him Nekobus... It was too complicated, so I just made a little Totoro.

Anyway, I had wanted to try this cheap air hardening children's clay myself and to make something rough and quick out of it. Just for a change, as it usually takes me way too long to finish anything.

There's this nice Werewolf image in Hellboy book. So, as this clay is too soft for sculpting without armature, I made rough thin clay stick/figure one day, and the next evening, when it was dry, sculpted this over it. Took some 4.5 hours. I made some minor tweaks and corrections later, but basically, that was it.

It's not perfect, I know, I know. But it's nice and heavy for 15 cm statuette. And it looks old.

Wow!!! Have you thought of casting copies for sale, or would there be copyright issues? Terrific representation!

You are too hard on yourself I think. Each artist is though, to some degree or another. This is a very nice piece that you can be quite proud of. You are a very good sculptor. Thank you very much for sharing your creativity here at DA.

You captured her really well. The way you did the wrinkles on the back of the robe makes me squeal with pleasure.

You rock at sculpting. I don't think I have the coordination to sculpt.

Thanks! There isn't much logic in all the folds, some of them look pretty weird. But it wasn't supposed to be a complicated finished sculpt anyway.

I'd agree with you on the aged thing. This reminds me of old woodcuts, the way you've sculpted the details in the folds of cloth, the fur & the shape of the eyes. Even the pose is like that of an old friar seen in the ancient printed books of a Monastery. I don't know if that was your intention & I haven't seen the reference image, but regardless intended or no, it was well worth the time & effort you put in!
