Description My third portrait of Benedict Cumberbatch. His face's getting easier to draw
My hand still hurts a bit while I draw, but the doctor says my hand's okay and I can't resist drawing anymore^^

Just lovely! I love the composition, like the edge of the paper is a wall he's leaning against. Nifty!

nice drawing how do you do the stands of hair so beautifully and the face with such fine shading, how do you know just the right aspects to draw and leave out all the irrelevant parts?

I used a overexposed photo with very strong contrast as reference. That's easier than using a "normal" photo. And the shading is a LOT of practice. I went through several art classes about portrait and landscapes and all that and my teacher showed me how to do the shading correct. The stands of hair are a kind of shading, too.
I hope that helps

hey thanks for sharing your knowledge that is a great idea to make the image high contrast would help to train the eye to draw only the pertinent points. I think practice is it yes I wish I could train next to someone, I draw a lot but not enough, I guess there are lots of tutorials out there too, I think its amazing to see how much furthest people take their art in tutorials I think that I am satisfied with my drawing well before I should be there is so much more to improve.
